Pena as a LF would be a waste, and his bat would be a liability.

Bregman's days at SS are over, I'm afraid, although I'm sure he can beca backup playing 5-10 games there. Just don't expect great results.

My thoughts are that Paredes should be at least as good as Carlos Lee in his later days.

I didn't know the word 'horseshit' was that dramatical. You'll get over it.

I'm sorry, but you've yet to explain *why* your idea is a good one

Would be awesome if Bregs comes back but I’ll hold my breath for a cheap outfielder and Verlander

Y’all. They told Bregman to not run hard last year so he wouldn’t aggravate his “soft tissue.” He’s not gonna play outfield for this team.

Bregman has played at least one game in left field, that’s for sure.

Bregman will never play left field ever again, also for sure

Or just sign a true OF like Santander for less than they would pay Bregs. Santander is better with the bat and glove in the OF at this point in their careers.

We likely have an average team but if everything goes right with the pitching, we have a great team.

    Bregs or no Bregs

Bregman is negotiating that 7th year at 28 to 30 million; that’s what I’m saying. That’s why he is trying to include a 7th year, because if he signed a 6 year deal and at year 5 and 6 he follow normal trajectory of a typical 35 year old baseball player, he may get 10 million if he’s still healthy and mildly productive. Though Bregman could be a unicorn and play at an MVP level and outplay his contract and his team would have a steal, but if thats the case you could guarantee yourself some money and make a Las Vegas bet that Bregman is top 5 in the MVP race in his year 7 of the deal - you would probably get a great return if you could make that bet. Bagwell was washed up and could no longer go by age 35. So Bregman is trying to guarantee near 30 million regardless if he plays good or sits at home because of injury in his 7th year of the contract. If he signs a 6 year deal there is a possibility, he never sniffs a lucrative payday for a 7th season.

Bregman is dead set on that 7th year and he wants to get paid top dollar for it.

But that 7th year is perhaps only worth realistically 10-12 million. So he is trying to up the Astros valuation of 26 million per year for the 6, to 31.5 million a year for the first 6 years, by including a 7 year at 11 million. Sure the whole contract averages to 28.5+ a year; but I expect Bregman is truly only going to earn the contract the first 4 years, after that he figures to regress into a negative valuation of the contract.

Bregs is trying to bluff a full house when he only has top pair, and no one else at the table is folding.
