Took a major downturn last year as well (more K's)... but was thought to be more for him trying to have a contract season vs. any other reason.

Our current players need to contact Bregman and Tucker to find out what their new teams are teaching them that the Astros aren't.

or a decline in bat speed that is making him have to decide earlier if when to swing

Tucker is in his prime and playing similarly to how he did last season when he was top 3 in AL MVP odds before his injury. Bregman...would anyone be surprised if the Red Sox and Alex Cora are up to some shenanigans?

I would be lying if I said I expected Alex to have this type of start, but so far, he is having the type of success I expected his season to end up with.

He will have a slump at some point. Everybody does.

But he has shown Boston what adding a 2 time World Series champion ( and significant contributor to both) to the lineup and clubhouse can do.

I fully expect him to sign an extension before the season ends, and spend the remainder of his career in Boston. I'm thinking 6 yrs/$200M.

That means, IF he makes the HOF, it will be in a Red Sox hat.

I say that because of what the rest of his career will look like for him to actually make it.

Ehh he would have to win at least 1 WS in Boston. If all he does is put up stats I'm not sure he will be remembered as a red sox

    We will see.

I think winning a W.S. in Boston is certainly a possibility. Maybe even this year. The future is bright.

But if he has 6 or 7 years with the kind of stats he will need to be HOF level, he will be a Boston icon - and if choosing between being immortalized as a Red Sock or Astro it's no contest.

I think Bregman saw the Astros brand turn toxic after the sign stealing scandal.

The booing was too much for several guys, including Springer, Correa, Cole, and Bregman. Some of these guys signed for less than what they wanted from the Astros to remain with the team.

I don’t blame them, the Astros went from the good guys, to public enemy number 1. Even though the fans nationally spite the Yankees, Dodgers, Lakers, Celtics; the national media adores them and strokes their ego.

The Astros were despised by the national fans, they were despised by national media, they were even despised by many of their own fans. So it’s hard to blame someone who wants out of that.

Springer hasn’t heard boos since he left. Yet guys on the Astros who were not even in pro baseball in 2017, get booed constantly. Bregman wants to be loved, because that means a lot to his ego.

Which goes to prove what type of a fellow Altuve is, he didn’t cheat according to the folks that have spoken, and he thrives in the face of adversity.

But guys like Springer, Correa, and Bregman who participated were quick to hide from the boos.

He signs an extension with Boston, in exchange for voiding his opt outs, before the season ends.

But he will be a Red Sock the rest of his career

The former Astro on the Red Sox who really stings right now is Wilyer Abreu. Dude looks like a beast who would have provided much needed length and balance (and inexpensive production) to Houston’s lineup. Ouch, Click.

to be fair, the story goes that Click originally wanted to trade Urquidy but Crane killed the deal, which in hindsight would have been a great move. We really don’t talk enough about the tragedy that was Crane choosing to kneecap this dynasty over the fallout from
Signalgate and failing to let Click do his job. If he would have simply been content to stay out of the way and let the guys who know what they are doing do they’re jobs, this org would be in a dramatically better position today than it is. ******* it pisses me off to think about it.

As for Bergman, he seems to be doing particularly well suited to benefit from the torpedo bat, and I wonder how much we considered such when thinking of resigning him. He does pretty much everything very well as a hitter except for getting the barrel to the ball which is precisely how the torpedo bat helps hitters.

Click is the one who torpedoed his own tenure in Houston.

    F around and find out.

Luhnow had built a masterpiece of a scouting/development organization and Crane told Click to slide in and maintain.

Instead Click decided he was the main character and wanted to make changes.

Then he decided because he was the GM of the World Series winner, that he was more important and could publicly shame Crane into a better contract.

I think Click did a great job of acquiring talent while he was here. But apparently he was lacking at the other job requirements
