hm... when i go ski, i just wear jeans and the coat i usually wear. you will be sweating a lot that you won't be cold. don't go to those steep hills, and don't hit the trees. if you are scared, just sit down. if you fall on your face, you probably won't feel it. i did it so many times and have yet to get hurt. trees can get you really messed up though. i will try snowboard next time.
Hispanics ski? =) My Yahoo messenger is still compromised. PS : dont forget something for your lips, just because it's cold does not mean that the sun will hide. If you're not prepared it will attack you with all its might.
If you keep moving and not fall down, you will be sweating and burning up so as not to feel cold but that is not the way to enjoy skiiing and it does not work out like that. You will spend hours out in the bad elements. You will fall and get wet. Sometimes you stop to take breaks and you will get cold. Even if you ski continuously, you will spend more time waiting in line and sitting on the ski lift than actually skiiing. It's not fun wearing jeans and regular coat.
Oh yeah i definitely will rent a helmet but will that protect me falling on my face? I don't want to break my nose. =( I had a bad injury to my nose when rollerblading so I'll rather not experience that again. Otherwise, I think I'll be okay. conquistador, i'll keep that in mind!! Keep the advice coming for me and future skiers on here!
If you can make it to Aspen on Sunday the 28th, I'll give you free tickets to this... http://www.wheeleroperahouse.com/wheeler/eventsLive.cfm?ID=486 Let me know.
Some other random stuff: In addition to chap stick as already suggested, go with some rather strong sunscreen for our face so you don't look like a sunburned raccoon (even if its cloudy you will probably burn). Also bringing your own Granola bars, energy bars and/or fruit are great for a quick lunch and avoiding cafeteria prices. They will all have free water of some sort to drink as well.
Also some of my favorite restaurants there are -Eric's -Mi Casa -Columbine Cafe (for Breakfast) -Breckenridge Brewery and make sure to make a stop at the Crepe shack, but be ready to wait in a huge line there are plenty of good restaurants there but make sure to make reservations
