It's been a pleasure to watch Yao Ming grow and develop; he will be surely missed and I hope the Rockets organization does something to honor him!

    Great player, greater person!

    Thank you Yao!

I checked out the twitter feeds of Lowry, Brooks, Landry, Shane, Tmac, Scola, and Artest to see what they might be saying about this but the only one who has is Tmac. In fact he tweeting almost ten different tweets including that Yao deserves to be in the HOF.

Houston really was so fortunate to have him. His heart and effort completely made up for what t-mac lacked.- Even when he was injured, he was an icon, a living example of what it means to respect what you do. An amazing human being.

Wish him the best on his transition from player to full time owner/businessman. Good luck with the she shanghai Sharks!

What happens to all the Houston Rockets now that Yao is gone?

    - No more international publicity?
    - No more Chinese Shoe contracts?
    - Cant say we have international exposure anymore?
    - Massive chunk of revenue is lost?

Aye. His body and frame were simply too big to withstand the physical stresses from playing NBA basketball. I was not surprised when I saw this as I fully expected as much. It's just as well I suppose because this finally forces Morey to address the center position once and for all.

Something else, remember all that obnoxious media chatter, after Yao was drafted, predicting that eventually half the league would be Chinese players. Yeah, uh huh, look how that worked out. It appears that Yao was special, not just here, but in his home country.

Don't feel sorry for Les, he knew this day was coming. Plus, the new CBA is going to take care of him.

Just saw this come across Twitter. (BTW @Audioout, Lowry also mentioned Yao) Lots of respect coming from NBA writers too.

Sad to see it happen to someone who was genuine and so dedicated to the game. You know Yao wants to play more than anything and now he has to move on.

He'll forever be one of my favorite Rockets. I hope to be there when they raise his jersey to the rafters (and you haters better believe that day is coming).

Unfortunately I expected this. Happy Trails big fella and thanks for all you brought to the Rockets!

I know Clutch doesn't like posting in Chinese but I hope he doesn't mind this.

    谢谢姚明!你是一个中国的英雄也是一个英雄给Houston!
    有一个良好的退休!

(Thank you Yao Ming! You are a hero of both China and to Houston! Have a good retirement!)

The transliteration of the "Houston" in Mandarin is "休斯敦" which sounds like "xiu-si-dun". That doesn't sound to close to Houston to me so I figured just go with writing it in English.

If Yao somehow reads this I'm sure he won't mind.

I know this damned lockout played at least some role in this decision.

Wow, the situation itself is pretty sad for us. He was a great player and I guess everybody enjoyed watching him play bball.

But I am glad the Rockets will finally MOVE ON. This was the time.
