They limited yao to 24 minutes this season, and held him out of back to backs. It still didn't work.

Exactly! What more could they do? Clone him so we can scavenge body parts from the clone to keep Yao healthy?

You have no idea the pressure put on Yao to play in the Olympics and we have others rob the Rockets and have done tremendously less. Joe Barley Cares. Les had no problems pimping Yao in China and reaping $Billions. Please tell me besides Tracy McGrady a top player that Yao has played with.

Not an insult to the team more to the lack of caring from management and Chinese basketball teams for running him into the ground.

So what he had pressure on him, he didn't have to play for us or China. He CHOSE to play for both. That was his decision. I think what you're missing here is the notion that Yao could have said no to either side. Even if he was pressured, so what. He isn't some sort of slave. Heck, Yao didn't even really have to come to the NBA. He could have stayed in China and kept playing for the Shanghai Sharks to avoid any of these supposed preventable problems.

As for Yao reaping billions for Les, this is nothing but ill founded speculation. Les's net worth is in the range of 80 million. The Rockets organization is only worth 470 million. So I have no idea where you are getting this billion dollar figure from.

Yao Ming didn't need another top player next to him. Look at the year we took it to LA, it was Yao and Ron and everyone else. We still kicked ass. I don't see Ron as a star player, he's more of a damn good role player. Yao didn't need a star next to him, he needed to stay healthy. Hell, this year we limited his minutes and he had an entire year off and still got injured! Overworked, I think not.

If you really think any of Yao's injuries were preventable, even by limiting his minutes, you are too delusional to post.

    That's not his net worth.

His net worth is $1.2 billion roughly: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leslie_Alexander

No man only worth $80 million would be allowed to own a NBA team. Sorry.

    my sentiments exactly :(

and the saddest thing is that yao never even got to play one game in which he was fairly officiated. :(

he was treated like a back-of-the-bus nba player till the very end and just like ML tha King, got taken out before ever getting to the mountaintop :(

Is that worth including assets like the Houston Rockets organization? Because then yes, his real estate ventures plus the Rockets make him worth a little over a billion, but money outside his ventures amount to only 80 mil. Regardless, you still prove my point, Yao has not made Les billions, seeing as how Les doesn't even have billions...

That was the part that really pissed me off... I couldn't understand why they couldn't just let him play normally rather than cautiously... Those doctors knew already that Yao was gonna break down, they just didn't want the city of Houston to be furious with anger at the beginning of the season...

This. I could not have said it better. The refs, and the league overall, was never fair to him, but despite it all, he remained a true gentleman. Shame on Stern and his gang of refs.

Bye Yao, thanks for the memories and may you remain committed to helping humankind no matter which path you take from hereon. You are a great human being, a true professional and I hope the Rockets are proud to have had you as one of their players. Regardless of the end, I am very honored and privileged to have watched and cheered for you as a member of the Houston Rockets. Take care and may God bless you and your beautiful family.

As a human being you are not even worthy to kiss the dirt Yao steps on. You are as pathetic as they come. You are a very very sorry excuse for a member of the human species. Laughing at the misery of someone who has given all he could to the Rockets and Houston, to a humanitarian who has given back to the community and to those in need.
