His first two years, we were all wondering how likely he was to be another Ralph Sampson. We always knew it was going to end this way. Glad he gave us what he did. He was a great person to have as a Houston Rocket, one I was very proud to cheer for.

How old are you? Honestly? Who didn't want Yao to come back and be healthy, you act like it is my fault he got hurt.

    Grow up, man....it happens.

    I doubt they'll start losing 60 games a year.

Happy trails to The Big Injury. It's time for the Rockets to stand on their own two feet, since Yao can't stand on his.

I think its time to move on but we should do it with respect towards Yao. He did not take us very far during his career here but he did give us his sweat and blood and undeniable tried all that he could. If he wants to stay with the rockets we should do something that is reasonable for him as well as the organization.

Yao might still be playing if Rockets have Suns medical staff.

But anyway, at least Dwight Howard won't have a chance to proof he can beat Yao head to head on the court.

Agreed. I just wish he could have had time off in the offseason with no china-obligations. They blame us, we blame them (china). In the end, he's a great person and a player who dominated while healthy--problem is, he was never healthy for long nor officiated fairly. I hate David Stern.

It is not a very large expiring contract. I read somewhere here, it is 12M instead of 17M if you let his contract expire.

If we were even thinking of getting thabeet or Randolph we just lost all our leverage.

A crappy and tragic way for it end for such a good man, with a great attitude, work ethic and pile of talent, it was a joy was a joy watch him blossom, and brings sadness to think of what we missed out on

Well, i never counted on yao to be a big part of the team this year, we knew he woudl get hurt again.

At least the team we have this year with the additions of (Miller, Lee) will be better than what we had last year when we wet 42-40. I would hope this record we have now is not indication of what our record will be at the end of the season.

Goodbye, Yao. It was a fun ride.

Or maybe he'll come back for the vet minimum? No way in hell he is resigned now.

Yao is done. Of course the mainstays who are almost NEVER right got what they needed to help their brains digest that info about Yao Ming that they needed. The so called "Enablers" are just as much the problem this team has as our team itself. We allowed it to be alright to keep pumping Yao down the fans throats as if he could ever win us a championship or be healthy when you knew this would be the outcome. We all knew. Nobody wanted to get rid of him for something? Anything. Now we cant. Trade value? Who cares? He was never gonna play long enough to get anything significant for him. I am glad of it finality. Not Yaos injury which I hate to see be the case. Even I dream as a fan some of us are wrong about him so he can be the old 20 and 10 guy. Thats just not happening just like Tmac never gonna be Tmac again and a few came to that boat when it was too late also. Good luck Rockets and Yao with however we handle the process of the end of the Yao era. :(

He might do this, but frankly I think he'll consider retiring.

I feel like crap. Yao is one of my favorite players and to have it happen to him of all people is just disgusting. I wish him a very speedy recovery and whatever he decides to do from here on out all I can say is I wish him the best. It's just so sad.

I dont tihnk we ever intended on getting Randolph...and im not sure how this loses leverage for us in getting thabeet. Memphis is shopping him either way.

He gave us a legit shot for several years. We couldn't capitalize. At least he wasn't Greg Oden.
