You know I can see that. I was having ankle problems with my right foot, suffering mild sprains pretty frequently and it turns out it was a pair of shoes I wore. They kind of slanted my foot a few degrees causing pressure on my ankles resulting in the mild sprains.

I think Yao has said he would retire if there were another reoccurance of a foot injury, who wants to go through another rehab when there's no guarantee that he won't break his foot again. The Rox should count their blessing that the injury comes at the end of his contract and not at the beginning.

Did you miss the part where Melo didn't want to sign with the Rockets?
Stop living in dream world, no superstars wanted to sign with the rockets and the only chance we had of winning something was if Yao was healthy.

The Rockets need to find a superstar in the draft because they ain't coming to Houston.

Mr. Morey - give me high draft picks.

You just have to hit it big with a great draft pick.
Then you have someone to build around.

I don't see any player on the roster that makes me feel like the ''Kevin Durrant or Derrick Rose" type- young superstar.

We must draft a player of that caliber, it is very hard to put together 3 all stars which is the Boston model.

Man , sux for Yao, the Rox, the fans. It wasn't meant to be. Yao needs to go ahead and announce retirement and just become an ambassador for the sport his country, his cause. Even if he could come back, why? Yao played limited minutes and still got injured falling down. Hope he himself realize he needs to move on.

DaDakota is completely right, and you should be the next one to go, after coachbadlee.

Yeah, but even if we get a high draft pick they'll get injured anyway.

I'm not 100% certain he's done. If he can come back and wants to play a limited, Bill Walton-on-the-Celtics sort of backup role, can lose a significant amount of weight, can run pain-free, can play the high post, is willing to risk further injury, and is willing to sign for the vet minimum, then I could picture him in a Rocket uniform next year. But I'm 99.9% certain Yao is done as a player. Certainly will go down as one of the most popular Rockets ever. Many thanks and best wishes to the big fella.

Because I don't know if he's willing to go through the whole rebuilding stage with us. I agree his offense fits better without a center like yao.

I think KLove would be the type of center that would fit Adelman's offense.

The question is, what does Houston have to give up to get him though.

Don't know if you're kidding but I think this is perfect for Morey in contract negotiations. I say resign Yao Now for Chow Mein and a side of Orange Chicken.

Yeah, just like he was right about Yao's recovery arc mirroring Ilgauskas. When you're that far wrong, and that arrogant about it, you need to fess up or STFU.

Clearly a sad day for Rockets fans, but it must be a little bittersweet for the front office and coaching staff. Now they can finally accept Yao's reality, and move on with the rebuilding process. I think we will truly see Daryl Morey flex his acumen for acquiring draft picks and talent, which will go a long way in getting back on track. Unfortunately, guys like Kevin Martin and Courtney Lee won't get to play with Yao, but hopefully now that we have a distinct direction, we can move to get players who fit the system.

I guess this is an RIP Yao Ming thread.

Yao you created one of top 15 moments in Rockets history when you came back in game 1 with a broken foot and won the game for us. That is stuff of legend man.

i dont think he can....if any of us have every played around on a little tikes type of goal, you'll land hard as hell on the rear portion of your foot, pesieclaly if you try to dunk it. I think that's pretty much what these super centers go through. There not jumping up to a target, but jumping up and then coming down to a target. It screws up your whole timing and landing pattern. Not enough time to land correctly and even if there was, it's difficult when you're that big. I think it's more of a heigh issue than weight issue and he's not losing anything vertically.
