Mmmm I think we got another tank in us. We need Wembayama to have an organic Big 3. Jgreen-JSmitth-Wemba.

I enjoyed this old video of WCS, thanks for sharing! What I thought was interesting was that his movement skills and footwork remind me a little of Jabari. I'm wondering if we can unlock something in WCS to make him a productive role player?

Loved WCS potential when he first came out too but the guy is a fruit loop.

If they get the worst record again, they will NOT win the lottery. Odds are they'll pic 2 or 3. Play to win and let the chips fall where they may.

    No.

But if he can play 10-15mpg as the backup 5, and provide defence and vertical spacing, that would be great.

Garuba needs to start for RGV and get as much development playing time as possible

Doc, you said "No", but then you described what I would classify as a productive role player. BTW, agree on Garuba starting at RGV and getting maximum playing time early, but want to see what he can really do at the NBA-level this year.

    Fair enough.

I probably meant no to developing him offensively. We just take what he currently is - which is a passable backup C. Invest development time in others.

Maybe Garuba gets time post ASB? Personally I don't see him panning out. He seems too unathletic, and needs to overcome that with an outside shot and perimeter D. Maybe he can - give him time and touches in GLeague to see??

Yeah, agree with that first part. I really don't know what Garuba can be, but what I expect is a tough rebounder/screen setter, solid defender and adequate shooter/passer. If he can do that for 15-20 mins a game for the next 3-4 years I think that's a win. Especially given the crapshoot the draft is.

Great news for all you Cauley-Steinheads out there

    Willie sign? Per iko.

There was no sign of Willie Cauley-Stein at media day or camp, but my hunch is he will be officially signed sometime this week and is put on some sort of G League plan with the Rio Grande Vipers to get him up to speed, similar to what the Rockets did with Mathews last season.

We had Mathews on a 2-way last season, WCS isn’t eligible for that, come on Iko

What guaranteed contract are we waiving for Willie, Nwaba?

No need to waive anyone, they currently have 19 under contract so they have room for one more .... at least according to Sportac.

I think it's almost a certainty that they waive Brown, Chriss & Burke which gets them down to the requisite 15 plus Hudgins on a two way and they can give one more of those.

    There’s one too many

    Porter / Washington / Nix
    Green / Gordon / Christopher
    Tate / Mathews / Nwaba
    Smith / Martin / Eason
    Sengun / Garuba / Marjanovic

Then we have Fernando (eligible for 2way) and WCS (not eligible) on top of Chriss, Brown and Burke

To sign WCS, have him assigned and then called up from the G-league like Mathews was, we’d have to waive somebody

Maybe they are getting cold feet on signing WCS. It never made sense to bring in both Fernando and WCS when they already had Garuba, Marjanovic, and Chriss.

Or maybe they are working on a trade of Martin for a pick.

They don’t need him. Literally zero positive comes from it.

    Starting center perhaps?

    Yes in a Vipers jersey.
