The Rockets have enough talent now to win and it’s time for them to win. Not really a weak spot in the starting five except for Tate, who should be replaced by Tori or someone else at some point and was a member of the all-rookie team. As for Garuba, there has been enough international tape to see he has zero offensive game. He needs to go along with Chriss and we can survive quite well with Bruno, Boban, and WCS as three deep backups to Sengun. Nice to have the size back for once on this always short team.
WOW! We have no weak spots in the starting 5? We are ready to win? So Smith is a franchise player that turns the worst team in the NBA into a winning team?
Why is WCS signing with us ? He must not be very good . It’s vet min right ? depending on how guys react it can be good to have someone to push them . Idk WCS gameplan . Is he a pro that will stay in shape and be content to have nights off . What is his plan to further his nba career ? Is he trying to prove he’s a valuable role player and can improve a young team ? would we even play him if that was the case? Garuba , Smith , Tari , sengun ,and boban. If we sign him for real we are cutting boban . if he plays well when one of those guys gets hurt then maybe we can trade him
Trade him to who and for what?lf any other team sees value in him, he would play for said team. We are the last place team for years running and just a step ahead of the G League, but we are still a NBA team. Our future is promising and there is no way WCS is part of it.
I mean we suck no doubt but come on no way near a gleague team. Kpj. Green, Eason, Jabari and senguin are not just a step ahead of a gleague team
Exactly, he won’t make the team and if he does, we either are really desperate for any center who can do something or just don’t have good talent evaluators In any case, Garuba has shown flashes so he should working his ass off and will get back up minutes and we need to keep Boban around! He seems like a funny guy and a vet so everyone else can just go.
That is all in the future. I am loving the rebuild and am a longtime and long term fan of the Rockets. Look at us: Two have yet to log a NBA minute, two are coming off of rookie season that ended with them showing promising things, one is in a contract year and most are divided on what to do with him because of mental health. Our head coach is a nice person but his coaching record is historically bad. That is not a typical NBA team. The point of my post was the future is bright but the now is not and WCS is not going to turn his career around and be a part of it. If WCS had another opportunity he would/should take it. go Rockets!
He has not signed with the Rockets, yet. No roster spot. The Rockets are still trying to trade away expiring contracts (likely minimal return), but expect they will cut someone in the next week or two if a trade isn't made.
Hyping WCS over Garuba was just plain silly. Garuba not just the younger player with greater upside but Rockets have invested more into Garuba (FRP) so his leash will be longer. And as disappointing as Garuba was last season, he is still the better switch defender, better rim protector, better disruptor, better 3ball and better passer compared to WCS. WCS has been in NBA since 2015 and on umpteenth teams. As 6th overall draft pick he is a bonafide bust. Willie peaked in college. For whatever reason (injuries, role, IQ, work ethic, etc.) he could not translate his college success to NBA.
