Kurds on the run. ISIS has escaped. Trump green light this, with apparently no time for anyone to react or make contingency plan (hey, how about if you really want to do this we should secure the ISIS prisoners?). After everyone, including this own party, bark on him, he send a public message through twitter -> don't you dare touch the Kurds (great fighters and all). What? I'm so damn confuse about the US position here. Chaos and completely incoherent. I wonder if the DoD even knows what's they are supposed to do.
Link The United States is poised to evacuate about 1,000 US troops from northern Syria, Defense Secretary Mark Esper said on Sunday in an interview with “Face the Nation” on CBS. The withdrawal of the troops from the region comes after US President Donald Trump abruptly shifted policy and withdrew some US troops deployed to support Kurdish-led forces in the fight against ISIS. That decision, in turn, helped open the door for Turkey to launch an offensive against the Kurdish-led Syrian Defense Forces (SDF). “In the last 24 hours, we learned that [the Turks] likely intend to extend their attack further south than originally planned, and to the west,” Esper said in a pre-taped interview with CBS. “We also have learned in the last 24 hours that the ... SDF are looking to cut a deal, if you will, with the Syrian government and the Russians to counterattack against the Turks in the north.” Esper called the situation “untenable” for US forces, saying that he spoke with Trump last night and that the president directed the US military to “begin a deliberate withdrawal of forces from northern Syria.”
The human rights activist was pulled from her car by Turkish backed forces. Her driver was executed. She was then violently raped and tortured before being stoned to death. "Do it humanely" And yes, Turkish media "praised" the execution as a successful operation. She is considered a "terrorist" even though she advocated for peaceful co-existence between Turks and Kurds.
@dachuda86 you are welcome to post something convincing that all Kurds in northern Syria are terrorists and I'm happy to read it. Still, you think Turkey has the "high ground" in an operation where they are executing unarmed women and children. EXECUTING. This isn't a military battle against a terrorist force.
As for Turkey being a "Nato ally"... When the United States wanted help targeting ISIS, Turkey wasn't interested. If you prefer Trump's standard, Turkey refused to help the Allies in WW2 and continued to give resources and supplies to Nazi Germany until the end lol.
I wonder what dachuda would have said about the mass executions of the Poles by Nazi Germany. After all, to that point Hitler was just reclaiming rightful German lands and clearing out terrorists
Wait are you implying all Kurds are terrorist? PKK is a terrorist group yes. The Kurds fight along side the US were not.
**** trump. Blood is on his hands. I like how he says I am doing this to bring the troops home. Bullshit. He just sent 2000 to the saudis. On top of that bragged that the saudis are paying for the troops. You basically pumped out the troops for money. So instead of having the troops fight for interests of the us. He sells them off to The Saudi’s for their protection. Just know any solider that dies in Saudi Arabia died for the Saudis and not for the best interests of the country. It is sickening. He basically handed isis a lifeline and Russia controlling interest in the Middle East!
Also consider that if the US continued to agree to protect and work with the Kurds then we can also exert influence on them to not back the PKK. By just leaving them to the mercy of Turkey any influence we might have with them is lost. On top of that embittered Kurds might start seeing us as the enemy and then groups like the PKK and YPG might turn to terrorism against our interests.
+ to save themselves, they are apparently trying to negotiate a pact with the Russian and Syrian government. We are looking at losing our best allies in fighting Isis over there to our non-allies.
trump is so petty. People were mad at Kelly , Mattis and the rest of generals saying why are you working for this man. Now we know why they stayed as long as they did. They held him in check as long as they could even harming their reputations in the process. Because they knew what would happen if they didn’t serve. We are seeing it now destructive foreign policy. Ukraine, Russia, China, Tariffs on Allies,Syria etc.
Propaganda is going to be everywhere on social media from now on. You just have always consider the vetting of the source and discount off-handily those you know are bullshit and question the people without a history. And again, this is just a basketball watercooler that has no influence on anything. Post away, it's just self entertainment.
Link it. Please. I really want to see this. I have seen no such praise across turkish media. Very doubtful to me as I follow it daily.... and if there is an example it is likely an outlyer. All the turks I know would not praise such things but if course the country has its own low iq idiots with extreme national views... like any country... but most are not going to praise a murder and rape.
The ypg are intermixed with pkk. Yes some were terrorists. And what do you call their actions... ethnically cleansing land and taking it... this is terrorism. most kurds are not involved in this though... no not all kurds are defacto terrorists. Many condemn the actions of the ypg-pkk terrorists.
