I don't think many of us have an opposition to urban walls, even 700 miles of them. The question I think is why anyone thinks we need to wall off Texas from the Rio Grande. Rationally, the costs and the effects on the population and wildlife is much greater than any objectively evaluated benefit. What are those again? (besides maintaining the illusion that the President is in any way a competent executive)

It carried an argument against walls like the one Trump's pushing today, and said border barriers don’t tackle migration's root causes, and may encourage more migrants to enter the U.S. through visa overstay. It all happened where the Rio Grande divides El Paso and Ciudad Juárez in Mexico. Ever since Texas became a state, the river has been the border between the two countries. But rivers can move — and that's exactly what happened in 1864, when torrential rains caused it to jump its banks and go south. Suddenly the border was in a different place, and Texas had gained 700 acres of land called the Chamizal (pronounced chah-mee-ZAHL), so named for a type of plant that grew there.
The issue is fixed when trump quits bonering for have a wall named after him, ends the shutdown, and republicans and Democrats can agree on increased border security (technology, border agents, repaired/reinforced barriers and increased work with other countries).
I am just hoping to wake up one morning and the Republican party leadership will have enough of this clown and lead the way to having Trump removed from office. He is the most vile, selfish, egotistic, racist, stupid, spoiled, and dangerous president we have ever had in the history of this country. I am tired of everything about him. I can't believe anyone with average intelligence or better would support anything that this clown believes in.
Don't need the wall to do all that. The wall is causing the shutdown and delaying real border security. The wall, and trump's selfish ego.
