I think they are both necessary unless it's that steel "fence" style that comes to points at the top, then you'd just need the surveillance equipment. The whole point is to slow people down as much as possible, and razor wire does a damn good job of it. Sure you can cut it and remove it, but that takes time, especially if you are having to do it while on the top of a 15-20 foot ladder.

Works in prisons. I'm not necessarily totally for a wall. I'm not totally against it, either.

True, but that's because they have the fences constantly watched by guards with guns. On the border, you have too many miles to have that many people watching it constantly so you use technology instead of manpower. The surveillance equipment would alert the closest Border Patrol station and the wall and razor wire would buy them plenty of time to respond leaving you with a secure border with less boots on the ground than is required now.

I get it, I just don't know if I feel it's worth the cost.

Hell, if HW and his cronies never started allowing Mexico and South America to start bringing the drugs in, you really wouldn't need a border wall.

Sad really, what politicians and operatives do to this country sometimes, and it makes you wonder what their true motives are. It's too bad our politicians can't always be purely and honestly just looking to do what's best for the country.

I consider the cost of the current illegal immigration problem and it's considerably more expensive. Build a wall, work to go after companies hiring illegals, then possibly when the problem dies down, offer a one time amnesty to those still here and you all but completely eliminate the problem. Doing all of that would be well worth the cost IMO....especially if we plan on continuing to expand entitlements

Would you support going after Trump's companies then?

The issue is that Trump is intentionally vague on specifics because this is an emotional, political issue that works better as a vague concept. Of course the general concepts of walls work but its contextual.

Immigration reform and border security should be the goal.

Chris Wallace is decent, Shep Smith is also someone who has journalistic integrity. Everyone else on Fox has no credibility.

LOL, now trump tweets out the same announcement, but switches around the order of the crises. Guess that makes it better. I understand the major networks are thinking whether to carry the address or not...

If the four major networks air Trump's address to the nation, we know that they do not actually have principles but are driven by profit.

What the four major networks should do is set up a camera randomly on the border and show the streaming hordes of Islamic brown Mexican terrorists as they cross.
