An adult question answered with childish cartoons — so your style. There clearly is a benefit in constructing new fence and upgrading existing fence. Otherwise one must wonder why such a fence exists in the first place. I remember when Trump first talked about the wall the argument against was “walls don’t work”. Here we are more than three years later and you still cannot answer why they do not work.
Obviously you either don't understand what a strawman argument is (even after I posted the definition) or you simply don't care. And your complaint that no one can answer the question "why walls don't work" would be a lot more valid if it wasn't responding to a post where I included a link to a libertarian magazine article: Why the Wall Won't Work The legal, practical, economic, and moral case against Trump's border barrier. https://reason.com/archives/2017/03/31/why-the-wall-wont-work
It is more a Symbol than anything now A Symbol of Trump Victory This d*mn thing might as well be a f*Cking Statue of Trump Rocket River
Trump said of the wall in his conversation with the Mexican President that was leaked. "the least important thing we are talking about, but politically this might be the most important."
He already lost on this. He went from 2,000+ miles to 550 miles, $15 billion to <$5 billion, wall to fence, and from Mexico paying to us. His condition won't let him or his supporters take a loss, but there's no other way to describe this. In the end, he'll be lucky to continue the same policies and actions that past administrations have implemented at the border.

I posted my reasons numerous times... not a cost effective method (technology and hiring more agents seems a better direction), destroys the local environment and economy, better ways to spend billions of dollars. Plus, the $5B they say it will costs seems way understated ($30B seems a more realistic estimate according to congressional estimates), and since it will be in process you know that even more money will be dumped into this. Plus ongoing maintenance. But I've posted all this before...
pretty good piece in the NYTimes about what's been built already and where current expenditures would go. Sounds like the administration mainly wants to rebuild and upgrade sections of the border fence/wall that are already in existence: "But the administration so far has focused on replacing existing barriers with taller structures along several sections of the border." also "In part because of increased border security, the number of people caught crossing the border illegally has dropped 82 percent from its peak in 2000." https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...tion=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage
So... trump's vanity wall isn't needed. I guess he should drop it at instead work with Democrats and republicans who want more effective border security and immigration reform.
Strange, that didn’t address any of the questions I have been asking. The purpose of a border fence is to aid border patrol in the apprehension of trespassers, and to impede, deter, and stop trespassing in the first place. I think this can be accomplished.
Yawn. There are better methods to accomplish it than a $30B (plus ongoing costs) wall/metal slats with spikes. I have posted a few ways, the Reason Magazine article goes into more details.
It absolutely does not. Unfortunately I read the article. Construction of a wall does not take away from other methods of border enforcement— it is an aid to those in the border patrol, not a substitute. Besides, at this point in time Trump is seeking money for enhancements to the current wall — hence my questioning of the existing wall.
