I agree this GoFundMe effort is an important sign. Its an important sign of how ideologically bankrupt the GOP is that it sees its reason d'etre as sticking it to the Dems. That isnt a recipe for good governance. That is a recipe to cover up corruption and incompetenceby playing to narrow minded emotional fears and victimhood. Its claiming the mantle of the will of the people even though the majority actually opposed you. It's exactly the playbook of demagogues and tyrants.
Most people think what the media source they prefer implies by ommision, word choices, and out right lies. They do not think for themselves.
Also slats work the best.. Border Patrol needs to be able to look through them... again an example of word choice. Degrade the wall idea by mocking it. Not that a wall or slat wall is the best option imo. Actually they look like sharp fence boards. A nice move by the media haters who want to drive resentment amongst actual Trump supporters.
Yea... that lying, hatin' media driving resentment with this sharp fence board design... oh wait it was that lying, hatin' idiot -in-chief you defend...
I didn't know there was a ticker counting the illegals that successfully made it over the wall. I do know things change with time, and as Central America becomes increasingly unstable due to unsustainable population growth and dwindling resources, the journey to America is one most will try to make. When you are not a citizen, you allow yourself to be exploited by big agro and pharma companies, which reduces work for the existing poor and illegals in America who hope to be paid a living wage one day. Stronger borders help the poor and hurt the top brass of corporations. It's a good thing for liberals. Whether a wall is going to be effective is up for debate.
If stronger borders was the goal, there would be no government shutdown, the president would be hobnobbing in mar-a-lago and the incoming congress could focus on infrastructure and other important issues of agreement. But trump chose his vanity wall/steel slats with pointy tops.
Absolutely, it's time to have the open borders that the Democrats think they want.....and we need Trump to come out in favor of open borders so that as a knee jerk response, they'll decide that border security is important now. If Trump did that, they Democrats would be demanding that we fund a 100 foot high 40 foot wide wall all the way across the southern border. The "I'm automatically against anything Trump is for even if it is something I was for immediately beforehand" mentality has pretty much killed any hope for rational discussion on this board when it comes to anything the president has given his opinion on.
The current level of border security wall is awesome. Great size. Look thick. Solid. Tight. Keeps us all protected - please update on continued progress with any new progress pics or vid clips. Show us what you got America. Wanna see how freakn' huge, solid, thick and tight border wall security can get. Thanks for the motivation.
How does removing the existing 700 miles of wall stop, prevent, or slow down illegal entry into the United States of America? How does removing the existing 700 miles off wall aid the border patrol in apprehending illegal border-crossers?
Really? Free and open borders is your claim? Can you cite one prominent Democrat that has ever advocated for that? Quit with the broad propagandistic statements. It's beneath honest debate. Really it's just stupid. If we did that we would be flooded with 50 million Canadians trying to get warm.
We have our own advocate here on CF, @txtony, who enjoys posting CATO Institute think-pieces advocating for "legalizing migration". We should totally legalize migration so that we can finally have immigrants in our country, again -- because we obviously have zero immigrants here as of right now.
Wait, isn't the Cato Institute a libertarian organization? as is Reason Magazine... gee, I thought y'all were libertarians? Or are libertarians Democrats? I get so confused Why the Wall Won't Work The legal, practical, economic, and moral case against Trump's border barrier. https://reason.com/archives/2017/03/31/why-the-wall-wont-work
For anybody whose never been to the border, the Border Zone which extends maybe 100 miles inside the border is actually where Border Patrol does all its work. It is defense in depth. Imagining a wall will stop people from crossing is a major failure of understanding of how the system is set up.
