This is a very sad situation, and my heart goes out to everyone involved and those who lost loved ones. Part of me is glad that piece of garbage is dead, but another part of me wishes he could have lived to get his punishment.

Have some sense man. Seriously. And one interesting I'd like to note is Sikh being a peaceful religion is a relatively recent thing, they were known as militants for a while, because of constant fighting against Mughals, then British. But with time they integrated into society, and even that fighting was for last resort purposes. The last Guru's sons got killed over defending Hindus.

Hypocrisy, bigotry, and heavy bias are well apparent in most of ATW's posts in D&D. And I am not talking about just reflex.

Just wanted to derail the thread to say you are an idiot and generalizing and grouping people together is the exact type of stuff that deranged shooters suffer from. You are a sociopath. Go seek some help.

Generalization with just a dash of race baiting. Nice.

    Aside from the personal attacks:

Where were you to to complain about bigotry the Fort Hood shooter was taught?

Apparently you're not allowed to acknowledge race without being called a "race-baiter"

You're also not allowed to acknowledge the reality that most Americans have little connection to the Sikh community. Do you have a connection to this event at all? I'm brown so I kind of do but I'm not Sikh and to be honest seeing as how I don't wear a turban or have long facial hair I'll be honest and say that I have less to fear than a Sikh person when it comes to people mistaking them for terrorists.

And you wonder why we can't have conversations in this country about issues without it de-evolving into name-calling.

But hey, keep claiming that fake moral high ground.

Not personal attacks. Your posts in D&D speak for themselves. Anyone can go and look at them.

I dont need to complain about bigotry from someone linked to Al-Qaida. It is well know that AlQaida is made up of bigots loonies. That is not news. It is also a fact that our country (FBI) is aware of this and is always looking for nutcases domestically. FBI has made numerous arrests on this basis, which they should.

Now FBI has to deal with loonies on our side as well. Here is another one from Yahoo's front page today....

Joplin mosque razed in fire; 2nd blaze this summer

    http://news.yahoo.com/joplin-mosque-razed-fire-2nd-blaze-summer-160342127.html?_esi=1

We are emulating what we hate. A big part of the problem is the hate promoted in media and internet. Most people will continue to hide behind their keyboards, but like I said, certain number of loonies will keep coming out.

The common factors on both sides (their loonies and our loonies)?

    Bigotry, hate, and ignorance.

Yes, anyone can go and look at them. And I am not a bigot. I am not treating anyone with hatred and intolerance. In fact, I am speaking up against hatred and intolerance. You, however, are making personal attacks because you do not ideologically agree with what I say.

It is out there for everyone to see that you were quick to jump to conclusions about this guy, to blame the media and even posters on this site for what this crazy guy did, whereas you were, of course, a no-show when a Muslim assailant killed numerous people in Fort Hood - because it did not ideologically suit you to speculate about his motives and attack the ideological basis for his actions.

Note that I did not post in that Fort Hood thread.

Did you not read my previous post (regarding Fort Hood shooter's link to Al-Qaida) or do you have a reading comprehension problem?

So your excuse to be blind on one eye is that "it is expected", whereas when loonies with other political motivation than Islamism do basically the same thing, you think you are justified to blame it on "the media" and posters on this site?

Avoiding these types of threads for a week or two generally removes all sorts of conclusion jumping.

Very impressive, and others can learn from this:

    Resilient community will educate, forgive

On Twitter, #Sikh is at No. 5. This small, mostly silent community has never trended like this before. "Gunfire at a temple in Wisconsin." "Seven Dead." "Gunman Down." By midafternoon Sunday, a camera crew was parked outside practically every Sikh gurdwara in America.

Eerie echoes of Aurora, Colo. It is too early to tell what really happened in Oak Creek. Was it a hate crime? Was it the work of a madman? Did he not know that the doors of a Sikh gurdwara, or house of worship, are always open to everyone? That he would be greeted with warmth and invited to share a meal? Did he realize what he was doing?

We Sikhs are a resilient lot. Our 500-year history is a gritty tale of survival. Our character was forged in the crucible of the 18th century when each one of us was declared an outlaw and a price was placed on our heads. It is said that in 1762, roughly half of our population was decimated in an orgy of violence unleashed by the invading army of Ahmad Shah Abdali of Afghanistan. We survived. No, we thrived.

A scant 37 years later, a young Sikh chief named Ranjit Singh triumphantly entered the gates of the mighty city of Lahore and established an empire that spanned modern-day Pakistan and Northern India, stretching all the way to the Khyber Pass, and successfully stared down the British Raj.

The Sikhs will survive the Oak Creek shooting as well. Of course, we are shocked, disconcerted and saddened. But it is important to understand that we would be equally shocked and saddened if our Muslim brothers had been attacked while praying at a mosque or if a church had been firebombed. To be a Sikh is to be fiercely committed to the rights of anyone who is oppressed.

The unique identity of a Sikh, with unshorn hair and a proud turban, is designed to make him stand out. In the turbulent days following the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as a nation grappled with an unimaginable tragedy, we were identified as the "other" and targeted. Sikhs were harassed, beaten and even shot.

We treated it as a teachable moment. We seized the opportunity to gently assert our identity. To tell the story of a quiet, industrious community that views honest labor and sharing as its credo. A community of doctors, lawyers, scientists and entrepreneurs that believes in and embodies the American Dream as it proudly takes its place in the mosaic that is this great nation.

Oak Creek is another teachable moment. We will take a bit of time to grieve, and then we will be back at the Oak Creek gurdwara. At every gurdwara. The doors will be open. The welcome mats will be out. The food will be cooking, and the hospitality will be undiminished.

We will not hate. We will educate. We will forgive. And the mosaic will be even more beautiful for it.

I haven't had a chance to post back into this thread but this does appear to be an act of a white supremacist. I think we will learn more though why he chose to target a Sikh Temple versus another group. From what I am hearing about the shooter it sounds like he was someone who had been calling for action for awhile in regard to a race war and decided to take matters into his own hand.

You're an idiot. The qualities that Sikhs have are common with other hard working Americans. As a brown person you should realize that more than most. But that's giving you too much credit.
