CNN had interviewed his son - at the time he mistakenly thought that his father had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

You have actually not been called out, but commended for your two posts (the one in this thread and the one in the Fort Hood thread).

If being "commended for consistency" and your post called "good post" means "being called out" and "criticized", then I don't know what to say.

To help you be sure: I am, as much as anyone else.

I don't know and don't care whether you had read through the thread. Why are you so defensive?

Interesting that you would say that, because you are "going after me" after you have been mentioned in person (although I actually commended you).

da1 specifically stated my name among that of other posters as (I'm paraphrasing) being responsible for a climate in which something like this could happen.

If you are so concerned about posters jumping to conclusions and "going after other posters", how come you are not criticizing da1, then?

Oh, I forgot - you might still not have read the thread.

This was an awesome post. I wanted to post something like this.

Damn. I can't believe what some of our resident defenders of all that is self righteous and holy let happen on this site. When someone like Texx tip toes across the line you get a plethora (Jefe, what is a plethora?) of posters to jump down his throat. When you have people in here blaming conservatives, attacking white people, using terms like "white devil"...Oh defenders, oh defenders! Wherefore art thou defenders?

Find me an audio clip where Rush, Sean Hannity Glenn Beck or Bill O'Reilly have advocated violence against members of the Sikh community. Find me a post where the posters you mentioned have done so. I recall some pretty vial rhetoric thrown my way by a poster for being white and I recall another poster here that is Muslim condoning artists being executed for drawing a religious figure and another who made a thread stating that women deserve to be raped. Anytime a Muslim commits an act of violence or a woman gets raped, I hope that da1 will be quick to call out these posts for being the cause.

Wade Michael Page Identified as Wisconsin Temple Shooter

The gunman who opened fire in a Sikh temple in Oak Creek, Wis., and killed six people has been identified as Wade Michael Page, an Army veteran who left the service with a less than honorable discharge.

Page, 40, served in the Army from April 1992 through October 1998. He was separated from the Army with a less than honorable discharge and had been demoted from sergeant to specialist during his service.

While in the Army Wade served as a sergeant, and later as a specialist based in Ft. Bliss in Texas and at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina. Wade's job was as a Hawk missile system repairman, and he then became a psychological operations specialist, defense official confirmed to ABC news.

Page was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with a police officer who sustained "eight or nine" gunshot wounds, authorities confirmed. Officials are treating it as a case of domestic terrorism.

The ex-soldier is believed to the gunman who opened fire on people at theSikh temple around 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning and killed six people.

Police have not given any details on the motive of the shooter, but Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms Special Agent Thomas Ahern said Page had tattoos that suggested he had ties to white supremacists.

I'm guessing if this guy didn't have a 3rd grade level education he wouldn't have turned into the bigoted, violent s**tbag he became.

He was armed with a 9mm semi-auto pistol, allegedly. If he had the weaponry of the Aurora shooter, you could easily double that bodycount. The cop who stopped the guy took 10 rounds while saving somebody else. No way that happens and he survives if it's more than a 9mm.

My main concerns about gun laws pertains to assault weapons, so in this case, I think the best way to stop this is to prevent people from becoming bigoted idiots in the first place.

I don't think this guy was insane, i.e. Aurora. He seemed to just be prejudiced and stupid and armed, another deadly combination.

the Sikhs are peaceful gentle people who dont deserve the abuse that they receive.

    wake up, nation!

what's sad, to me, is that the Olympics and Curiosity coverage will put this at the bottom of our priorities

What exactly is annoying (actually, I can understand that to an extent) and "disturbing" about my post? Me stating that the thread has 5 pages or whatever disturbs you? That's definitely interesting.

The extremely telling bit is this:
Still responding to ATW..
I agree with Dubious and think that's the exact reason that there are less responses and it makes me a bit sad because the shock value decreases as **** like this happens more consistently. So as humans we start to get more jaded. That's not a good road to go down.

But i'm sure you had some sort of bizarro idea in your head that my post had something to do with Islam (given your posting history) and me thinking that was the reason less people had posted. Actually, that would explain why you're so "distubred" as well.
As for that thread, I remember it. I actually wanted to post something similar in that one, but I recall it being just a huge pissing match between SamFisher, FFB, DD and others. So I just stayed out of it as I found it distasteful.

Additionally, I also remember another thread being opened about the subject a few days later that also had six pages on the subject:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=176889&highlight=fort+hood

More than anything, I just find it really odd that these threads have less pages than things like "Kristen Stewart Breaks up with Edward!!!". That was my whole point.

DudeWah, I didn't find your post annoying and disturbing. I just found it odd. I found some of the other posts annoying and disturbing.

The fact that threads like this get less posts than "Kristen Stewart" etc. might just be because there is not that much to discuss about something like this here, other than what you get through the news anyway, whereas human interest stories are always good fodder for discussion (and perhaps humor).

It says temple on the front of the building. He knew they weren't Muslims, as it would have said mosque. He was probably just a racist guy who hated people that looked different.

I dont know why anyone cares about page length. Yes the Aurora shooting had a lot more media hype. And it probably does speak to our perception of violence.

The fact is that the Aurora attack speaks more to the fears of the average American. All of us go to movies and the idea that at a random movie you can get attacked by a gunman scares the **** out of everyone, regardless of religion, race, etc..

Most white people have little to worry about when it comes to crazy white supremacists who think Sikhs are Muslims. I expect less talk about this.

What I hope is that we as a country can rally and support our fellow Americans that are Sikh. Like I mentioned earlier, I saw discrimination against Sikhs in front of my eyes and it was insulting and humiliating. They're Americans like the rest of us. Regardless of thread length, I just hope everyone who does post here makes it clear that this is wrong and sends a message in their daily life and practices that they wont tolerate this.

There will be racism in the future against brown folks that are confused for terrorists. I just hope the lesson from this is that all of us don't stand by when it happens and instead choose to defend our fellow Americans.

Ignorance can only be combated by a personal decision to fight it directly.

Take this as an opportunity to learn about a great religion. Go read the wikipedia entry on Sikhism. Learn that it is more than a group of people with turbans. Guru Nanak had some great messages that really resonate with me personally. There is much to be learned from all religions. This is a great chance to learn some more.
