That's not what I was discussing friendo, maybe you and I are on different pages and if so sorry for misunderstanding. I agree it will take forever to have changes in gun laws, but it needs to start. Of course people want their schools secured, but improving door/gate security long term will not stop this from happening again. Let's say you make every door in the school the kind where you have to swipe your card. In the med center you can't get in or out of any building without a card BUT people will let you in regardless. Will it slow a murderer down, maybe, will it stop the tragedy, no.

dont think this has been posted, i wonder what the altercation was about?

It'll stop it in some cases. It'll slow down most, if not all, of the others. Either is better in the immediate future, rather than having repeats of what has been going on. It's not entirely different than someone robbing a bank, as far as the planning by the criminal... They want easier and quicker access, less physical resistance, both of which lead to greater success in what they're trying to accomplish.

And it's not even about big and flashy security systems that will take time and money to bring in. Schools are dropping the ball on some very simple things that can cause big problems.

I want a Federal Law passed, which is includes funding for, atleast 1 school police officer at EVERY elementary and middle school in the country. 2 officers at every high school. Use our tax payer dollar for something meaningful.

I imagine alot of places do this already.

Imagine the assets that would be freed up for this sort of thing if we legalized drugs.

Or the assets we would have to do this if we taxed at a higher level or cut down on certain tax credits that favor the very wealthy and then gave that money to the states to pay for school officers. More Americans seem to favor higher taxes on the wealthy than favor legalization so it seems like it would be a more practical approach to funding school security.

My brother and his wife live in Guilford, CT, about 35 miles from where this occurred. My sister and her family live in Littleton...literally 3 miles from Columbine and close to Aurora. As a matter of fact, my niece went to see The Dark Knight Rises that evening but at a different theatre.

This ***** is really rocking me. WAY too close to home.

Lol. People are talking about tax reform to staff police at schools when we can't even staff enough teachers at some schools, and are cutting education budgets as it is in some places....

Welp, I had done a relatively good job up until this point of staying emotionally even-keeled to this tragedy, but that list just put me in the "sick to my stomach" category.

    I need a beer.

That would be an extremely smart decision...arm kids who get into fights because someone cuts in line or uses someone else's colored pencils without asking...you sir have all the answers...

    RV6 would be proud...

as a father - I have been trying my hardest to stay detached and not think about the individuals. When I do get into the individual stories it just rips me to shreds. the only reason i keep coming back is to gain a glimpse of why. Not that there is any reason that will somehow make this any more bearable, but that the lack of reason for taking childrens lives is absolutely horrifying to me.

and i'll stay away from any d&d type debate - as I believe disturbed people always find a way to inflict their punishment on society, but why does it seem to happen so much more frequently recently? Is this just perception? Has it always been this way and it is just more publicized?
