Can you post your source? Not questioning it but I would like to see the source. Thanks.

I personally do not own a gun but having a libertarian view before and always believing people have the right to own guns.. I was always against gun control or simply didnt really give a *****... Lately I have been reevaluating my position on this topic.. Seems like we do need stricter gun laws. I agree with the above stats outside of the insane crappy middle east there doesn't seem to be any gun violence in other countries in the world.

And what happens when someone attempts to purchase the necessary ingredients? They don't just get to walk out of the store.

This is just an incredible tragedy. As the parent of a 1st grader, I can't even begin to imagine the pain those affected are going through right now. There's no logical reason for something like this to happen. All I know is that if these evil pieces of s*** didn't have access to a gun, there would be many families who wouldn't get to remember Hanukkah/Christmas time as the time they lost their child.

My thoughts and prayers go out to these poor parents who won't get the opportunity to see their son or daughter grow up. My greatest fear as a parent.

Sickening. Killing innocent children doing nothing more than going to school. There is a special place in hell for the scumbag piece of S*** who did this. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

the black market in the USA is huge, how do you think gang members gain guns? They surely don't qualify to buy guns legally from Academy

Fire + Lock Chain. There are a 1000 different ways this guy could have done this. Again, WHY did he doe it and HOW can we prevent it in the future?

Please chill on the gun debate, so that actual news about this tragedy is readily available. Maybe try the D&D?

They'll still have to make it, plan how to use it to deal as much damage as possible, set it up and hope that everybody's standing or sitting in the right place. All of that without getting caught.

With a gun you just walk in at any moments notice, point at whatever's moving and just shoot, keep going until you hit your desired amount before offing yourself. With a bomb you don't know the exact amount of damage you're going to make.

Then you'd either have a situation where the teachers refuse to fire because they might be mistaken as the shooter/get innocent causalities in the firefight.

Or you have multiple f**king shooters around children, and god knows what will happen in the confusion.

I don't see how any of these are ideal.

I'm just so ****ing sick over this. I sent my 6 year old off to kindergarten this morning, just like those parents in Connecticut. The thought of the terror those kids went through makes me want to throw up.

I don't support banning guns, but some kind of more effective gun control has to be put in place. I would ask people who reflexively oppose more stringent gun control to use this tragedy to just try and do some fresh thinking on the issue.

The easy availability of guns enables an extremely EFFICIENT means of mass killing. Obviously, maniacs can kill people in other ways, but it's much harder to do it with knives, bombs, etc. That's why the weapon of choice in most of these mass killings is guns. Of course, no gun control law, or any other means, is going to provide 100% security. But, as someone said earlier, by putting more barriers in place to gun ownership and restrictions on types, ammo, capacity, etc., you create opportunities for intervention before a mass killing takes place.

Good idea. Let's make schools a battlefield. Add way more armed crazies vs armed teachers and settle it in the classroom. Let's do that.
