give it up and just apologize.

judging an artistic expression is totally subjective. if a poster says, "in my humble opinion that's the best performance" who are you to determine someone else's personal viewpoint?

you've voiced several thoughts on the memorial, try and notice you're the only thought nazi here.

this is the prevalent kind of lazy, prone to bias, off-the-cuff, seat-of-my-pants, little investment of actual heart and thought , though plenty of prejudiced, fleeting "feeling" and form of "thinking" on art.. that has promoted this equal abundance of " the greatest band ever" lists in the millions.. and recycled mediocrity, all the while supposedly surrounded by throngs of "geniuses"..

as always, on this unceasing issue on music and art.. i'll have no part of it.. and certaintly won't ever apologize for my stance against it..

take the time to truly take something in.. while opening yourself completley to it, however contrary to your "tastes" .. and dare to be objective.. to have prespective.. it is possible.. especially with music.. music's more than just something to accommodate your passing moods and fancies.. or to serve as your own personal "soundtrack"..

until you do so.. don't ever address me on on the matter of music, or my prespective.. with one that is, suffice it to say...

    more than lacking..

I've always wondered why people thought Hmm was the biggest tool on this board.

    Pretty obvious now.

Neverending Jackson memorial could move to London in August

The words "rest in peace" have never held less meaning than in the aftermath of Michael Jackson's death. Now, the endless profiteering and headline grabbing over the singer's death is spreading overseas.

Tuesday's occasionally genuine and moving memorial for Michael Jackson in Los Angeles is only the beginning. Reports say Jackson's minions aren't done milking the man's death just yet.

Plans are in the offing for a huge memorial concert at London's 02 Arena on what would have been Jackson's 51st birthday on Aug. 29. Jackson was supposed to kick off his comeback concert series at the 02 next week.

Jackson went from outcast to savior in the wake of his death. Since celebrities (especially musicians) tend to be forgiven for their faults and excesses after they die (i.e. Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, etc.), Jackson had a little redemption coming his way. But the LA service credited him with everything short of curing cancer, and this London show promises to string the memorial march past sincerity to plain old-fashioned capitalist marketing.

But, it'll sell out to SRO status in hours. The only thing that could sell out any faster is anyone associated with Jackson and his sales potential.

This shouldn't be surprising. Memphis still has a "Death Week" for Elvis every year.

    Errr, yeah I was. Problemo?

I didn't say the best moment of the memorial, just the best musical performance.
Most folk seemed to prefer J-Huds performance or Stevie or Usher but I preferred John Mayer. To each their f#ckin own bruv.

No need to give a silly retort all you had to was state which performance(s) YOU PERSONALLY liked.

    Cheers.

If you're looking for someone to blame, I'd put AEG tops on the list quickish.
What a coincidence that AEG run both Staples and the O2. I think they're doing their darndest to recoup their money from the proposed MJ concerts.

anyone hear the Ron Artest tribute to MJ? I was laughing uncontrollably when I heard this. Unintentional humor off the charts. And yes, its really really REALLY bad. I didn't see a thread about this, but just to be safe, Im posting it in this thread.

never considered myself a MJ fan until recently. after he died i played some of his stuff my wife (BIG FAN) had around. its just stunning how much of his discography is the soundtrack for significant chunks of my life! i say that with complete awe ... i'm not American, Jamaicans have a distinct musical heritage.

Michael transcended boundaries, cultures, ethnicity, gender ... pretty much all the stuff that compel folks to draw lines in the sand.

the KING is dead, long live the KING!
