I know I would not like it but that's just one of the huge negatives of celebrity. We normal people are the ones who feed it too because we watch the video coverage, buy the magazines, search the Internet, etc.

Prove that he didn't. No one will ever know except the boy and MJ. All I know is that the boy was able to identify markings on MJ's privates that no one should be able to, and he was given $20 something million to keep quiet about it.

I'm not saying he did it, but there will always be speculation given those facts.

But that can go either way IMO.

To me, the fact that those parents actually took that cash to keep quiet about it means that either:

    a) It wasn't true and was just a (successful) extortion attempt.

    or

    b) It WAS true.

If the answer is ‘b’ that essentially means the parents pimped out their own child for 20 million dollars.

Ask yourself this question: If your child was molested, would you take 20 million dollars to keep quiet about it?

    Me either.

assuming these parents who were sending their kids over to spend the night with michael jackson were logical is probably a stretch.

True, and their were so many iffy things about the claims. The mother of the first child said their was no wrongdoing, the child and his father initiated talks for financial settlements, other families and children were interviewed and said no wrongdoing was done, doctors/investigators said the child's description of Jackson's body was not a definitive match, after the child got his money he refused to cooperate with investigators any further, and the child was even recorded saying something like this: If I go through and do it, I win. There's no way I can lose. I will get everything I want and they'll de finished. Michael's career would be dead.

Call me dumb but that isn't definitely guilty.

To me this is a bigger issue than whether Michael Jackson molested those kids. What kind of parents let their kids sleep with an unrelated adult male?

At the sametime consider if Michael Jackson wasn't a celibrity but just some guy in the neighborhood who publically came out and said he slept with children? Do you think that guy would be given much of a benefit of the doubt or that there would be such ardent defenders of him? For that matter could that guy hire the defense team that Michael Jackson had?

I agree that Michael Jackson had some psychological problems and while he might not have sexually molested those kids at best his behavior was innapropriate. The problem though was that his own celibrity shielded him from getting the help he needed to address those problems while also feeding his psychological problems regarding children.

Consider if Michael Jackson hadn't been a celibrity how many parents would've let their children stay with him.

Settlements happen ALL the time. Victims frequently sell out for money instead of justice. You can pretty much use the term "pimped out" in many settlement cases. It could have been something like the OJ incident. There may not be enough evidence, so you go after their wealth. MJ is not a victim nor are the parents. Both parties know they are setting themselves up for serious problems in letting the kids alone with an adult. When it comes to kids and if there are insurance polices, (day care, schools, churches, ect..) they all require multiple witness for coverage.

true. i bet if anyone of us had gone through MJ's life, we wouldn't be normal either, plus the level of people trying to scam us for money would increase 10x.

i was in a very minor fender bender along time ago at a movie theater in houston. i was driving looking for a spot and the dude backed out without noticing me and he got hit. very minor damage and we exchanged insurance info.

a few days later the insurance company said the guy claimed his family was traumatized and there lots of injuries due to the accident.

I told them that was all bs. (this was before the days of digital cameras)
but they were trying to screw my insurance company for money.

I'm sure if i were a celebrity that would have blown way of proportion.

tinman seriously injures family in car accident, while the fact was completely different.

I went to a few places looking for it, including a Barnes and Noble, but nobody had it. I'll probably get it from Time's site and pay the $4 shipping because there are 1 or 2 other back issues I want to get.

I switched from Napster to Zune Pass recently and the first thing I did was download a crapload of his stuff. lol. Been listening to it exclusively for the past couple of days. It's amazing what memories come back when listening to some of these songs. Like I'll remember what was going on in my life while I'm listening to a few of his songs.
