There hasn't been this kind of world wide mourning for a celebrity since Elvis died -- this is all pretty amazing really. The huge gatherings of people singing Jackson's songs and dancing are cool.

Lennon and Lady Diana are the only others that are even comparable.

I'm not putting Dylan on the same level either. The post I'm responding to separated Dylan from the other three. Elvis vs. Beetles, I just think you see a lot more bands doing Beetle covers than Elvis covers and a lot more rappers sampling beetle songs than Elvis songs, though that's wholly unsubstantiated opinion of mine, love to see proof either way.

So when this news first broke, it really didn't affect me that much. But after watching a lot of the media coverage and a lot of the old videos, I've come to realize that a significant portion of my childhood had Michael Jackson as the soundtrack. So while it hasn't brought me to tears or anything, I am a little sad that a portion of my childhood has kind of died along with him.

Listening to Off the Wall right now, my favorite album of his.

Bob Dylan is more folk music, a storyteller.... He didn't dance or excite the crowd like MJ or The Beatles but he was poetry in motion...

My hope that a lot of it is London tabloid crap, but likely doubtful.

Anyone remember the video game? Ha, too funny. I could have sworn there was an arcade game too.

It's pretty amazing that everyone in the world is now reappreciating Michael's great music. MJ is dominating iTunes, the radio, and YouTube. It's a really neat thing but at the same time sad that it took his death to reignite passion for his music. Jackson really fell into obscurity and indifference in the 2000s. I wish he was able to tour this year.

based on..? particularly bizarre is the sudden, out-of-left-field, "uncovering" of Michael Jackson's apparently accumilation of 'gay lovers'.. with no quotes.. a mention of pictures without their presentation.. just thrown out as clear-cut evidence.. writing off the man as "clearly gay".. no need of proof, or doubt.. it's astonishing how poorly written and presented this entire thing is..

it just doesn't add up to the actual facts of his life..

Unfortunately there's going to be more and more bizarre things like this coming out, true or not. Book publishers must be drooling at the thought of the "tell alls" that are about to hit.

I saw them delivering his body to the coroner (or from it) and thought to myself "that seems like a VERY skinny body, even for Michael". Now I guess I know why. Good grief.

I remember playing the arcade game like when I was ten years old. I went to an arcade in Showbiz Pizza in some place in California and literally played that game with four random strangers for about 2 hours and we beat the whole game. It was awesome!
