    This is my POV so i won't argue it cause i won't change my mind :D
    Michael Jackson, The Beatles and Elvis are the most widely known entertainers in the world. Its really hard to say who is above over the other. I think they all reached the same level of stardom in some way shape or form

    Elvis had a lot of controversy
    so did the Beatles
    and so does Michael Jackson

    Once Michael Jackson unleased the Billie Jean/Beat it/Thriller Triangle of Pop Power onto MTV, once Michael Jackson moonwalked on the Grammies: changed the game.

    Everyone else scrambled to play catchup. ESTABLISHED acts had to add in a little dancing around while they were performing. Some adding in suspiciously shoulder padded blazers and jackets. To try to get a piece of the Mike Jack money.

    Bruce Springsteen, The Freaking BOSS, Dancing in the Dark?! You could claim possible Elvis influence there, maybe he was a James Brown fan, but considering what was going on at the time... Billy Joel Uptown Girl? Billy Squier Rock Me Tonight? Steve Winwood who was in a group with the ever so popping Eric Clapton, Higher Love video at the beginning? These are ROCK acts. And plenty other performers who had to do that arm sway side to side while snapping the fingers thing to look like they're grooving along to the tune.

    Elvis = ducktail
    Beatles = moptop
    Michael Jackson = jheri curl

    Actually, Jackson had exactly the same impact. Just to a different group of people in a different time. He, Jordan, Murphy and Cosby were the cultural payoff for the Civil Rights era. And I think we've got to start viewing the '80s less satirically than we have in the past; this is the decade where we somehow rebuilt ourselves economically, re-unified socially and re-branded democracy, capitalism and freedom globally: apparently on the backs of our movies, music, sports and television.

    You would be wrong. In a backward country like India was at the time, people in villages barely with any electricity that I visited in the 80's knew Elvis, Bruce Lee, and to a much lesser extent, John Lennon. lol. The popularity of Elvis was ridiculous. He was a star, had the good looks, the hair, etc. My dad, barely speaking good English, came to this country and bought 3 albums : two were Elvis albums and the other was Tennessee Ernie Ford (we'll ignore that one for now... :eek: ). This was before MJ's popularity, of course.

    1) I dont ban anyone, I mearly called you out on you trolling the thread, what happened after that is between you and Clutch

    2) I do have a life, this is the first time I have been in Hangout in days.

    3) If I were someone running around with two active IDs on a board where that is forbidden, I would shut my mouth and quit thumbing my nose to mods.

    dont even try to deny it, I see your IP

    EDIT: LOL...I see why you are acting all butthurt right now.....your other nick got banned AGAIN!!! Im pretty sure this one is permanent.....at least till you make another one. I blew you off in that thread as know-nothing blowhard...so you went after Batman?

    The first tape I remember my late father actually going to the video store and renting was "Making of Thriller." We didn't have cable, and I was too young to give a fart about music videos, so I'm pretty sure this was the first and one of the few times I actually saw the video when I was young.

    I made a sincere effort to not listen to any Jackson music yesterday or today, and will probably continue avoiding it due to sheer personal cynicism; but this re-enactment actually took me back 25 years: to when there was so much more about Jackson and my own family to be hopeful. And yeah, I hate to rehash the racial angle; but as a black kid in the '80s this felt like one of those Jackie Robinson, Joe Louis-type moments. The original video; not the felon and tranny show up there. Good post, though.

    My dad actually knows Dr. Murray. They both work at Doctor's Hospital in North Houston. Dr Murray has medical practice in Los Angeles and Las Vegas along with seeing patients once a month in Houston. He is trained as a cardiologist. Murray's father is from Jamaica and was also a well known physician in his day. Dr. Murray's brother is a pediatrician, so his family is obviously pretty smart. I don't know how Dr. Murray ended up working with MJ though, and why MJ would have a cardiologist as his chief doctor instead of a general practicioner.

    If you think it is true, lay down the ban. If it is forbidden, regulate sheriff!
