I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but BET is having an MJ video marathon right now.

What an imprint he left on the music industry.

His music videos were television events.

You would wait until the premiere, they would show the long version two or three times in a row on MTV (remember that station that used to play music videos, they are actually playing old MJ videos right now)

Then they would play the shortened version from then on...

I'm still mad at my mom for not buying the red leather jacket I begged her for in 1st grade.

I was lucky to see him up close and perform at the MJ30 Anniversary concert, the one with the Jackson 5 reunion.

My mom didn't get me one either.

I homemade a glove though. I have no idea what happened to it but it was great.

My mother wouldn't have had to buy me another Christmas gift for the rest of my life if she'd have gotten me that red leather jacket. I already had the glove, the socks and the pleather pants (she wouldn't let me get a jheri curl).

She started crying when I broke the news to her this afternoon. He was as big a part of her childhood as he was to mine. RIP you crazy b*stard. GOAT

    Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Elvis.
Can't think of any music artists greater than these.

It took MJ dying for MTV to actually play his videos again. Unfortunately Sway and some other dude earlier tonight for some reason thought they should talk about Chris Brown (because he imitated MJ 2 years ago I guess) and that just messed it all up along with their cutting the vids short to show us celeb twitter updates.

agreed. Just bc he was acquitted doesn't mean he wasn't guilty. Was O.J innocent. He also settled the civil case for 20 million.

In the 2nd trial, there was a lot of ****ed up stuff that came out from the jurors.

Sorry to be the downer. His music was great and should be mourned but just because he died doesn't mean posters should be saying he should be forgiven for suspected child abuse.

I hear you. I chuckle when people talk about being a kid when Thriller came out. I was in college. The Jackson 5 and Motown were a big influence on my taste in music.

There was a stretch when it seemed like the Jackson 5 had a new hit every week. Michael was just unreal. It was hard to believe that little kid could perform the way he did. People today just have no idea!

Same here...First song I ever owned was MJ...Truly sad day.

I know it doesn't mean much but I want to pass my condolences on to the Jackson family, and all who were associated with him, knew him, or had anything to do with him. He was a man who gave much Joy to the world with his music, and brought great joy to people by just being Michael Jackson.

It would have been hard for all the medical practitioners working on him too, knowing that they gave it their all and he couldn't be saved. A truly tragic day for the world today.

Being in Australia, i read that the actual confirmed time of death was 6.14am Australian time, and i remember being up at 6 am and the alarm going off at 6.15 this morning....I can just picture it all, and knowing what went down at this time freaks me out. I am saddened by it all and although I was not a big fan, I feel tonight (4.55pm in Australia) truly gutted to know that a person who gave such joy to people passed passed away.

    R.I.P Michael Jackson.

Yeah dude was a freak and a weirdo but his music brought a lot of joy to millions of people round the globe. It's not cool that he *allegedly* molested those kids but it's also not cool that people are disrespecting him after he's past. Two wrongs don't make a right and all that.

    R.I.P. Michael Jackson

What a truly great way to mourn Michael. I wish I had been there.
