Tell me is this really a punch? Looks like one game suspension is overreacting. http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/?videoId=250811,565
I was wondering what Finley was all worked up about cause they didn't show or mention what happened. Here's a link: http://www.woai.com/mediacenter/?videoId=250811,565 Cuban says "Jason responds to a guy hipchecking him in the head while he is on his back and can't protect himself and he gets suspended. You can't throw a punch while you are on your back and someone is laying on you." There is usually so much more contact than that "hipchecking" when diving for a loose ball that Cuban is complaining about, but it looks like he wants to get everyone's attention again.
I seriously, seriously, seriously doubt the NBA would make such a ruling unless there was absolute clearcut evidence that a punch was thrown. Why not just push Finley off of him? The league also said the punch was not clear through TV footage, but through other footage. The NBA is very careful about this, believe me. If Terry threw a punch (or Duncan, for that matter), he deserves to be out 1 game. He knows the rules.
Cuban is making excuses. Terry could have very easily put his hands up and pushed Finley off of him. There is no reason in the world to throw a punch. Same with Raja Bell. No excuse, heat of battle or nothing. Note that Cuban tried to make an excuse about "hipchecking," as if that's grounds for throwing a punch. Nothing is grounds for that. Terry knows it, Cuban knows it, and Avery knows it. The only one I could see doing that on the Spurs is Robert Horry because he's been known to take some cheap shots. That's Terry's downfall.
Who in their right mind could argue this suspension? The guy threw a punch at another man's nuts. In the NBA, when a punch is thrown (regardless of whether or not it lands) it AUTOMATICALLY results in a one-game suspension. Doesn't matter how weak it looked, or how much it hurt someone (if at all), or what the situation was. The rule is clear as day and as an NBA player I'm sure Jason Terry knew it before he decided to go and be a dumbass. There are no exceptions when you throw a punch! This is nothing new.
So from this year's playoffs, we've learned that grabbing testicles leads to a fine (ala Reggie Evans) and "punching" testicles as Terry did gets a suspension.. While there may be question to whether that was a punch or not, doesn't any kind of punch = automatic suspension? Also, I would be super pissed if another dude takes any kind of swipe towards the family jewels....
Anything that makes Cuban cry like a B$tch is fine w/ me. "Unbelievable. When it's all [said] and done, this series could end up being talked about for all the wrong reasons." Fluck the Mavs.
If you watch the video from that angle it's very clear that he clearly intends to punch Finley. It's not like a reaction thing he punches him while he is right about to get up. It's not like a shove get off of me move it's a nice swift punch and the league did the right thing by reviewing the tape and suspending him a game. I don't like either team but you have to be fair when judging that and the NBA did the right thing.
You guys are overreacting to Terry's suspension. The Mavs have way more than enough to win w/o JT. Daniels is a terrific athlete, if the Cavs can win w/o Hughes the Mavs can win w/o JT for one game.
The quickness of Terry AND Harris has been breaking the spurs defense down all series long. Now take out Terry, and add Daniels, and that lineup is just not as quick. Daniels is a good athlete, but he's easier for the Spurs to guard than Terry. He's also not as good a shooter.
Jason Terry is a punk, when i watched game one of last season' playoff,Yao set a screen for Bob or someone, that punk elbowed Yao in his rib!He deserve suspension!
honestly i wouldn't mind seeing that little turd jason terry get his face bashed in by ron artest or somebody....hopefully, artest would hit him so hard that afterwards he would look like josh howard
the replay i saw tonight on ESPN clearly shows that Terry punched Finley in the nuts. it was not a great punch, but it was a really bad cheapshot. i can't imagine the Mavs getting rid of Terry though, the guy is their 2nd best player and runs the team.
