Yeah, I recall there being a huge stir about that "documentary" that showed people jumping from the bridge. Horrible stuff. There's no lower low of emotions for a human being than the instant they decide they no longer wish to exist on Earth. Easy to joke about this thing, but thinking about that video kinda made me not want to for the time being.
welp. i stand corrected. anyhoo, seeing as i am finally checking my mail because comcast is a piece of ****, i have an email from someone that works at the law office at the centerpoint building. it happened around 5pm. she emailed my friend who forwarded it to me. she said there was a lot of blood splattered all over the wall.
maybe the hotel doesnt want the public to find out about this, as in letting the media bring it out, maybe it could paint a bad picture on the hotel?? they dont want to lose customers?
Maybe the room service was so bad that he (she) decided to kill himself? If I was the hotel, I wouldn't want anyone to know about this.
if you actually pay attention to the news prior to Ike, they dont cover every murder or suicide that happens in this city. Most *normal* people just don't want to know
Still, this would seem juicy enough for them to cover. This isn't some guy taking too many sleeping pills, this is someone jumping to his death inside one of the most iconic hotels in the city. You would think that would warrant a little story in the Chronic, at least.
This reminds me of a Deep Thought, by Jack Handey. If you go parachuting, and your parachute doesn't open, and you friends are all watching you fall, I think a funny gag would be to pretend you were swimming.
haven't really talked to her about since the day of the suicide. apparently, the Hyatt is a jumping place for suiciders since this is the 3rd one there in history (according to my sister or maybe i misheard). they say it has something to do with the design of the inside.
hey. do you know when my power will come back on for zip 77074, since you are working for Centerpoint??? thanks!!!
I could give you that info, but to be quite frank, it can be misleading (as if some of you didnt already know this) Your zip code is "estimated" for restoration by Sunday. Majore line repairs are "estiamted" to be completed today. Why I say its misleading? It doesnt take a genius to figure this out. That zip code estimate is for an entire zip code, NOT the equipment (circuit, parent fuse, child fuse etc) that serves you and your neighbors power. Essentially, you could have power well before that silly as estimate (as some have had), or it could be after the estimate, it just depends on what need to be repaired (pray for it not to be a transformer) and how quick we can get to it. BTW, I cant pull any strings....already tried. My place is still immersed in "darkness." Hope this helps.....
Thanks man.. I've heard on the radio that there were lots of trees fell down on Bissonnet & 59, and they said those people there could be out of power unitl freaking November.... true??
IMO, its not cowardly so much as selfish. People who think about other people, their feelings, and their well being, don't commit suicide generally... its seems as though the ones who do are constantly focused on themselves and whats wrong with their life. I could never do it, not that I desire or think about it, but I know I never would because of what it would do to my friends and family. Even though I abhor it, I wouldn't necessarily label a suicide bomber as "cowardly" because it would take a great deal of personal courage to walk into a place with a bomb strapped to you intending to blow yourself and your enemies up. Do you call a suicide bomber cowardly? They are cowardly in the aspect that they choose not to face you in open combat, but they are brave in the fact that they took their convictions to the ultimate level. m2c
LOL @ the media.....what, do they think they're all electrical engineers now. And mind you, our local media is so reliable, they have FAILED to report something like this swan dive suicide at the Hyatt. Remember, its because of the media that Stephen A. Smith has a life....nuff said.
Suicides are routinely not covered by the media unless they are committed by someone famous, like Kurt Cobain or the mayor or something. They're considered a private matter. When I worked as a reporter, we used to get around 2 suicides a month or so at the MedEx's office. These fall under family issues and aren't reported on as a policy. The downtown Hyatt was a staple of my childhood. It was dizzying to look over the edge of those balcony walls. It's horrible to think of being in the lobby when a body comes crashing down. Really makes me sick, 'cause I love that place.
i also work in the cnp building and i was walking to the parking garage right after it happened. The bottom part of a leg had been severed off and laying in the walkway. I got about 25 yards away, before being told to turn back. A coworker was there before me and he said he saw the leg and other pieces of flesh and bone splattered everywhere before he turned back. Although this is very sad event, it could have been a lot worse as many people are walking over to the garage at 5pm and thankfully no one else was injured.
So wait.....that leg was found on the second floor walkway in between the CNP skybridge and the bridge to the Regency garage? Dayum....
