Because the Astros doctors would have cleared him when nobody else will? If Correa's foot is gonna fall off nobody is gonna give him a long contract, whether he bet on himself or not doesn't make much of a difference. Although I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he still beats our offer...easily, probably with the Mets.
IDK what the Astros knew, but I agree he wont get a long term deal from anyone if he fails the Mets physical.
What are you talking about. Correa got 2 offers above $300m this season. It was not the back that is causing these complications. It was a completely different ankle issue that wasn't on anyone's radar, including Houston's, at the time. This is simply bad luck for him.
Definitely makes me think there is something to this instead the Giants getting cold feet and deciding to make up a reason to back out.
Wow. I really love Correa as a player, but no way would I sign him for that long even before these latest issues. Now? Forget about it. Way too risky.
Man I feel bad for Correa. He's a great defender, strong leader, clutch af, and has incredible knowledge of the game. Dude never needs to pay for a drink or meal in Houston again as far as I'm concerned.
I don't really feel bad for him, he's trying to rob people right now and getting a bit of push back. Even if he fails with the long term scam he'll get compensated incredibly well going forward.
Thank you for your respectful response. It seems the Mets themselves are getting cold feet too. I hope Correa gets his deal. But obviously the Astros were prudent with the medical reports, just like the Giants, and now the Mets. If I were reading what i am posting here, maybe even I would think I was a Correa hater, but I assure you I am not, he’s one of my favorite position players in all of baseball. Probably #3 behind Altuve and Bregman.
Pretty sure he injured this ankle/leg late in the season… so no, the Astros did not have this included in their medical reports. Neither did the Twins. Apparently the back won’t scare people as much as the plate having moved…
Whoa, Nelly! So, teams now have to worry about TWO known physical issues with Carlos. And don’t forget, Carlos broke a rib getting a “massage.” I can see why teams might be hesitant to give him a big money long term deal. I do miss having him on the team though.
Carlos Correa was Extremely Aggressive on the Basepaths, Ran Really Hard, and Slid Incorrectly at 3rd Base, Spike got caught on 3rd base and Broke his Leg. High A Lancaster Jethawks I remember, Maybe his Power Numbers would've been even better if his right leg was healthy. Carlos Correa grew up very poor, I think Malnutrition and having weaker bones, Crack Ribs, Leg, Back, Hands these injuries were tough to overcome.
MLB Fans, Journalists didn't know Carlos Correa full injury history, Leg Injury especially. When Giants rejected the deal, my thoughts were "It was the Leg with plate and screws" nobody knew why it was rejected. Back issues want the cause, his leg has long term effects.
If this deal doesn’t go through we could sign him back for 5-130. Put him at SS, Pena at 2nd, Altuve can DH and play the occasional 2b. I know it would never happen.
