None at all. He had a great defensive season, an average offensive season (horrible OBP- huge hole in his swing, above average pop/ adding all up to average) and then a great playoffs, all as a 25 year old rookie. 25 year old rookies typically don’t profile out as great but it’s certainly possible. He answered the bell when we needed him to which was the concern the whole way with this team being awesome and only caring about the playoffs. A+++ result. That doesn’t mean a) he’s as good as Correa, or B) he’s great rand de Astros are set there for 5 years of awesomeness. I hope it plays out Like that.
I hope you are right. I would pound the under on multiple MVP conversations and something like 4 or 5 time all star.
The New York Mets, like the San Francisco Giants earlier in the week, have raised concerns about Carlos Correa’s surgically repaired lower right leg, potentially jeopardizing their 12-year, $315 million agreement with the star shortstop, according to people briefed on the matter who were not authorized to speak publicly. The parties could agree to a restructured contract if the Mets continue to express reservations about the long-term stability of Correa’s leg. It might be difficult for the Mets to back out of the agreement entirely after their owner, Steve Cohen, went on record talking about the deal. It also might be difficult for Correa to re-enter the free-agent market and land a comparable contract after two clubs identified the same issue in their physical examinations of him. If the Mets remain uncomfortable with Correa’s long-term prognosis, one way to alter the agreement would be to insert language saying that portions of the deal would not be guaranteed if Correa missed a set amount of time with a specific leg problem. Boras, however, might fight any attempt to alter the deal.
Boras and Correa may need to accept reality. Correa should get his contract but a club has the option to terminate the contract only if this particular issue causes a problem in the future. Some language about multiple 3rd party physicians confirming it's an injury related to this in the future.
All those folks that went on and on about how bad the Astros offer to Carlos was, all those that repeatly kept saying how Carlos betting on himself was such a great decision, all those saying how he is worth these big long contracts might be eating crow for a very long time.
