My guess is that he got scared and panicked and fell out before the thing even got very high up in the air.

 

Nope. The thing is in trouble and descending, still going pretty fast. They think he may have fallen out, but don't know one way or the other yet.

if it was you or i, i'd say yes. we're smart enough to make the call to get hurt now rather than make things worse.

a kid that young i think is more likely to stay in the place that's safest at the moment. Same reason younger kids hide under the bed when the smarter thing to do would be to run
