I'm inclined to think the kid meant something like the balloon was being built for a show. If the father had come up with this plan, he would have probably put more effort into controlling the message coming out of his son's mouth. If this father had thought for a couple of hours that he had killed his son with a dangerous experiment, it is a real shame that he now has to put up with people saying he staged it.
Yeah, I understand that. While this was all going down, I had a ton of stupid one-liners that I was holding back just in case the kid was dead. But now, the moment is gone. Next time I won't be so careful.
Except that this is a family that has history of seeking out attention and given their history, among other evidence, I think skepticism is warranted. At the sametime given how much cost and effort was put into the rescue I think the facts of what exactly happened should be looked into.
This whole thread is hilarious how it went from everyone "praying" for the child's safety and bashing others for joking about it, to "calling it" and being right the whole time about the kid not even being in the balloon.
There was a lot of speculation being thrown out. I wasn't predicting anything until I made the moestavern19 guarantee.

I think he got mad and kicked something. I don't believe that was from yesterday, it said home video of when balloon took off on cnn. But who knows?
The Heene family has released a video of the moment the balloon thought to have been carrying their 6-year-old son took off from their Colorado backyard. The footage shows Richard Heene counting down "3, 2, 1" until he unlatches the balloon and allows it to take off. He then appears to notice his wife Mayumi had not been holding another cable tethering the helium balloon to the ground and scolds her as the balloon rises higher and higher. The footage surely will only add to growing speculation that the whole incident was a hoax. The release comes after a bizarre morning of TV interviews on all three morning shows in which Falcon Heene, 6, vomited twice on national television. Richard Heene responded to the hoax theories, calling them "extremely pathetic." "I'm not selling anything," he said on ABC's "Good Morning America." "This is what we do all the time." http://www.freep.com/article/20091016/BLOG36/91016038/1318/New-video-shows-balloon-liftoff Saw this link. Don't know how or if they are reliable or not.
First of all, why would you even care about whether I post here or not? I choose to post here - if I never posted here again, it wouldn't bother me. I probably get one hour a day to read and post on the BBS which is a far cry than what I used to spend here. I post maybe once or twice a day now, so believe me when I say that not posting here wouldn't be a big deal to me at all. But for your information, moes and me were pretty good friends and that friendship got tested which led to what you are referencing. Both moes and me talked it over and resolved things amongst us. But I guess you missed all that, didn't you? Which leads me to ask - why even bring that up? Is it because you feel like a jerkoff for even thinking that a 6 year old kid dying would be funny and this is your way to look "cool"? And if you had BOTHERED to read post #127 (my 2nd post in this thread), I mentioned that I was hoping this would be a hoax. So, if I had to choose between pissing some random high school/college kid named "Royals Ego" on the Clutchfans BBS off with a 6 year old boy dying a horrible death by falling out of a balloon, I think I am going to go with option 1, there. I'm glad to know that since you have "dark humour" about yourself that means you aren't "gullible". Well, you definitely come across from your posts as immature and I stand by what my old HS teacher said - I do hope for your sake that if you do decide to have children that you will have some newfound maturity on your part. Lord knows that the world doesn't need any more kids put in this world that have parents that can't handle the responsibility of raising them. And when you see your own child stop breathing FOUR times and spend a day in the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital to see what the hell is wrong with him, you get a little sensitive about people joking around about kids dying, know what I mean, Royals? But because I am "gullible", I'll remember that the next time something traumatic happens to him, to just look at my wife and start joking about it.
You didn't know Mr. Fischer that well now did you! He did many controversial things although the sterilization comment was probably the worst. But you have to remember that this was in '88 and he had already been teaching for 30 years (my father had him when he was in high school), so he pretty much did whatever he wanted. Having tenure and being there that long, he knew that they pretty much wouldn't have done anything to him. He also liked to call all the girls either "princess" or "honeychild" and all the guys "son". He also liked to go on and on about how many kids today were nothing more than "blobs of protoplasm". He was definitely a unique guy and very old-school. He would be appalled by the mere suggestion that he would have to take sensitivity classes. But dando - you weren't the first person that felt that way about him nor would have liked to see him get fired! He wound up having to retire when I was a senior (fall of '90) due to failing eyesight. I believe he died like 6 to 8 years later.
you'd be surprised.. i've had teachers that would, in lieu of actual teaching, just insert video tapes, engage in casual chatter with the students, and hand out 5th grade level "worksheets" that made up 98% of our work-load.. this was in the 10th grade.. some that instead of instructing students.. would regale the classroom with tales of their lifetime's abundance of sexual misadventures... there was also the one that allowed poker in the class.. of course.. I attended H.I.S.D... but, it goes to show.. Manny's story isn't exactly all that wild and without precedent..
What is that woman even saying in that video? It sounds she's just say bleh weh waa blaaah Seriously, can anyone understand anything she's saying?
if you are saying that he was sidelinin' as a Rand-McNally Road Atlas in a world of Garmin/GPS nonsense, then DIE DIE DIE DIE. That is all.
Methinks dad may be a bit of an ARSEHOLE....if you listen to him freaking out in that video....no wonder Falcon was hiding. DD
