[Breaking News] Boy Floats away in a Balloon

LOL.

This isn't a funny story (if he's dead or injured) but it's funny the way the story keeps getting different nuances to it.

 

they just said this on the local news as well

They are talking about this family more now and they seem nuts. They are storm chasers. The parents make their kids sleep in their clothes so they can jump out of bed and head to storms. Apparently they also pull their kids out of school on a regular basis to go storm chasing with them.

 

Uh oh.

There was apparently a "box" attached to the balloon when it took off that is no longer attached.

 

What. The. Hell. Was. That.

 

They said the basket was only meant to hold things like batteries so it could probably hold a six year old but not for very long.

 

Im wondering why so many different stories:

1. unbreached
2. he was in it
3. the ballon wouldnt have supported his weight
4. door unlocked
5. he wasnt in it

WTF is going on.

 

LOL yeah it isn't funny at all, but when things like this are over, its fun to go back and read through the thread and see all of the people making wild predictions about what would happen or what was really going on.

I swear I pictured DD in my head with his home personal telescope documenting what was going on from his back porch in Austin. When he said he was looking for arms or elbows or whatever and how the craft was leaning to one side earlier in the thread. LMAO.

True. We've gone from serious concern to 'what a waste of time' back to 'uh oh he fell in a box.'

 

Does anybody know if any FAA rules were violated?
