ESPN.com is saying that the Rockets are one of five team pursuing Trevor Ariza and that Ariza is not likely to return to the Lakers. S&T Artest (29 years old) to the Lakers for a S&T Ariza (24 years old)??? Wouldn't be bad for a rebuilding team, and the Rockets would still have the full MLE to use on Gortat (and possibly Wafer).
great news that morey likes varejao. S&T artest for him and we get something in return. also great news about gortat. those two guys will make a nice center combo for the upcoming season.
I'd sooooo much rather have Artest for the next 2 years at 8-10 mil than Battier for the next 2 years at 7 mil. If Morey's planning on getting rid of both and really starting from scratch, fair enough, but if we end up hanging onto Shane I'm really going to be pissed that we let Ron go.
Your reasoning was because Yao got injured...the actual reason is because we are only offering a one year deal. Youre still wrong.
The cavs are more intrested in ariza and his youth than artest and lakers are content on resigning lamar therefore although it says ron is gone we will see what happens when the smoke clears
Thanks, Ron, all the best except when you play agains the Rockets. It was a fun year. I will miss Artest's play and his hilarious quotes (not so much his sometimes hiliarious shot selection, but nobody's perfect). Too bad the Artest/Battier duo only lasted one season. I think it's a mistake to just let him go, but understand there is a bigger overall plan. (Wouldn't mind, by the way, if Ron comes back for a return engagement sometime down the road).
Good player to have on your team, didn't really fit into the offense... or any offense for that matter. I'm not really bummed about letting him or Wafer walk. Thanks for the season Ronald.
I know what you mean and I really like Shane. Maybe the Rockets can trade Shane to a team that needs a good vet.
A shame, personally, I think Artest deserved a better deal then another one year one. But I am also one that doesn't think he deserves us breaking the bank on him. Still, it is a shame, the guy really did put his heart out over here, he didn't have many great offensive performances and his defense lapsed at times but he worked hard most of last season. Adios Ron Ron, unless you go to the Lakers, you will still have a supporter in me. Because if you go over there to ride Kobe's junk you are dead to me. I'm all fine with going after Gortat but Vareajao would be a bad move IMO. I know we are short up front but that guy isn't worth anywhere near what he is likely to be asking for. Shoot, I'd rather take Odom and I don't even like him.
