why can't they just extend to 82 games through late july and early august? sure there are Barney on ice presentations and lame nickle back concerts going on in the middle of summer but that would be fun to have the nba playoffs a week from Nfl's hOF game.
Me either, I think if some owners are losing money, they are not going to have enough to keep their team intact. They need the revenue as bad as the players do... I said all along Nov/Dec is when it would end......if you are dinosaur aged like me, you have seen this play before and know how it will end. DD
So if only 10% of the salaries are escrow'd, and they didn't really change the luxury tax rules, and the suppose some team gives players like DeMar DeRozan a max deal how will the keep the BRI in tact?

Never understood the owners not wanting Lux teams to pay tax....if they have the money and want to...let em...the revenues are split amongst the none tax paying teams.... That along with insurance money from Yao and Tmac's contracts is how Les was able to buy all those draft picks. DD
Wouldn't the insurance money have gone to pay Yao's contract and T-Mac's contract, so it would be a wash? Les Alexander would have only been a middle man that doesn't keep it.
No, because the team still got the same revenues without them playing, the insurance money was straight to the bottom line. DD

Under the old CBA, the union had to make up shortages by giving up money from future checks to cover what the escrow didn't, right? Is it confirmed that this isn't the case in the new deal?
Also, what's the status of max contracts? Is it 25 or 30 percent? I think that has some big implications as far as parity goes, right?
Yes the injured player exception only allows you extra money to spend over the salary cap. The insurance money just helped pay their salaries. With Yaos injury exception I believe that helped some lux tax savings that les would have spent if Yao would have been healthy. I'm sure Les would rather have a healthy Yao than a second round draft pick.
That is not what he was asking. If you bring in $100 million a year as a team and out of that you have to pay Yao's salary of $20 million, when he gets injured, you still bring in the same $100 million in revenue, only now, you got 75% of his contract paid by insurance, or $15 million.... Thus you now have effectively brought in $115 million for the year, and that is straight profit, or money to use to buy draft picks. TMac and Yao being injured sucked for us fans, but more than likely it was the most profitable years for Les ever. DD
