NBA and NBPA agreed on the early opening of facilities. But it's a good sign that a CBA is close to completion. Still needs to be ratified.

Well, hello NBA: Sources confirm league announcement that free agency talks begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow morning and team facilities open Thur.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Players going to practice facilities Thursday must sign a waiver and can't interact with coaches. Can use weight room and practice on own.

Free agents can't be signed until Dec. 9, but talks can begin tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time and no oral agreements can be made.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Agent-exec conversations that begin Wednesday can't take the form of any formal deals. Wink, wink ...

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
So with that and sign-and-trade limitations, new rules could create a new wave of free agency, one exec said.

Basically, fellow scribes, prepare for two trade deadlines: one in January and another in February. #bringbackthelockout

No GMs or coaches can watch the players play and players must sign waivers. Free agency signings start Dec. 9.

Multiple sources confirm Yahoo! report that teams can begin contacting player agents Wednesday a.m. Cannot sign deals until lockout ends.

GM's and Coaches can easily bend these rules by using back channels.

Expect alot of rumors of FA's destinations from tomm. to Dec. 9.

Can we stop this nonsense that NBA coaches & GMs can't watch their players workout at their gyms starting Thursday. Who would know or care

To clarify, NBA GMs and agents can talk terms beginning Wednesday, but are not permitted to enter into oral or written agreements.

As others have reported, NBA is allowing teams and agents to start talking Weds. No deals can be consummated, tho, until deal ratified

Also, players can return to NBA gyms on Thurs, can work w/trainers and strength coaches. But no supervised activity on the court.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Wild speculation began tues “@briancmahoney Feels like basketball season. Teams/agents can talk Wed, players can enter workout centers Thur”

Teams will be allowed to comment publicly on free agency, players, the upcoming season, etc., starting tomorrow.

Early round of team-to-agents calls producing lots of posturing, little clarity. "Everyone's working on their lies first," one GM says.
