I hadn't really taken the time to learn much about this as it was unfolding just because I didn't really care, but I went down a serious internet rabbit hole today just reading and listening to stuff on this and it's pretty damn fascinating. Could very well be one of the great unsolved mysteries of the last few decades.

Having said that...it's no JFK assassination. I think more than likely it's just a plane that crashed into the ocean and that's that.

Agreed, it's stupid to compare Asian incidents and losses of life to American ones. We're much more important than a bunch of rice farmers.

Amirite dude? High five my fellow American.

You could not have taken that more out of context, my friend. Stop trying to stir stuff up...

US Officials now confirming that by the time the co-pilot said "Good Night" message the plane had already turned.

i def. think this plane landed somewhere. how or where he landed is what we will learn..but trust me..there are out there. the satellite pings prove he flew for hours after that left turn.

I think he was referencing the conspiracy aspect. Right or wrong, I didn't see it as having anything to do with valuing loss of Asian life.

Yeah, pretty groundbreaking twist if true.

What I'm seeing is that the turn was programmed, not executed, before the signoff. Pretty significant difference.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/mi...-u-turn-programmed-signoff-sources-say-n56151

    http://www.cnbc.com/id/101505345

    Explained here:

IOW: The pilot programming in the route towards Langkwai may have been a routine occurrence.

The "mystery" of the JFK assassination is straightforward. Oswald, period.

I had the misfortune of being in a Public House that had Fox News on one of the TV's while this fragment broke - pretty much it was direct proof a conspiracy by evil brown people and thanks obama.

I was spending the last 2 days screaming at my TV defending the pilots. Trying to link Terrorism or Pilot Suicide when plenty of other options could be the cause.

They might be right after all. This whole story is unreal......

I should clarify here. The story says that the Langkwai coordinates could have been programmed at any point before 12 minutes prior to the "goodnight" sign off. Not that the coordinates were programmed exactly 12 minutes prior to "goodnight".

I know we are getting older, but that is some serious slippage of standards.

It took 2 years to find the Air France wreckage in the ocean so I wouldn't eliminate "in the ocean" yet. I don't think any theory can be 100% eliminated.

"authorities were able to remove the first major wreckage and two bodies from the sea within five days of the accident, initial investigation was hampered because the aircraft's black boxes were not recovered from the ocean floor until May 2011, nearly two years later" - wiki

We need a Congressional Investigation to get to the bottom of this.

The Malaysian PM and his govt do seem shady.

*bought his wife a diamond ring worth US$24 million

*trumped up charges against Anwar Ibrahim who opposed corruption

*murder of a mongolian woman by his bodyguards...
