Thanks, RMT. It was really worse than I described. He was feeding 714's to those kids like candy.

Yep, I heard about it. Meaux was the force behind some great music from this region, but he certainly was a scumbag as well.

Not that I know anything about Matthews, but I'm not seeing the hypocrisy. From what I understand, he advocates treating convicted criminals harshly and then later becomes a convicted criminal. Maybe that's irony, but how is it hypocrisy? Maybe if he whined instead of pleading guilty it would be hypocritical.

Too true. You just never know. I met him a couple of times and hung out a bit as a teenager at the house on Old Galveston Road he kept back in the '60's for some of his musicians. This was when the Elevators were living there. No one guessed he was doing this. No one. I don't know if he was that sick back then or if it was later. Nobody knows but Huey.

Actually, that isn't a bad point, however, I think there was a lot of "these criminals are just a bunch of animals who don't deserve any mercy" animosity in his comments. I'm guessing he's hoping that some mercy is shown to him even though he didn't seem very willing to do the same for others.

When did that rule happen? There's a registered sex offender living right across the street from the elementary school in my sons' neighborhood.

Guess who wrote this in Feb 2002?:

"Why one of the Democrat Party’s most ardent supporters is a group called NAMBLA. The Clinton Administration even had them included in the United Nations list of NGO’s. If you don’t know what NAMBLA is, ask a Democrat. Or your friendly neighborhood registered sex offender."

Karma is a good thing. :)

Not sure but saw it in the chronicle article as well as on the local news earlier.

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/2638931

"The arrangement calls for Matthews to register as a sex offender, perform community service and move from his Sugar Land house.

Prosecutors said Matthews can no longer reside at the house on Rolling Mill because it is too close to Sugar Land Middle School. State law prohibits sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a school."

IMHO, all hypcrisy is not the same. That of conservatives (aka The Pharisees) hurts more. You cannot be advocating morals in the public loudly and then live your perverted lifestyle in the closet. You can only fool.....albeit for a limited amount of time.

Yes there is evidence of hypocrisy..........He actually got a Lawyer to defend him. For all the rubbish he has spewed, you need not waste your money with any attorney........Once he received the charges he should have plead guilty and saved his county or city DA money. And please lets not raise the due process smack. If you preach morals and purnishment for the crime - you should run to jail whenever you are rightfully charged with a crime anbd not waste our time and morney (i.e. if you know you did the crime).

    What is 714?

    Male genitals? Faeces?

Qualudes. Methaqualone, for those with a scientific bent. It's slang, Fegwu.

edit: they are downers, but that description is like calling a Ferrari "just a car."

Indeed. And now he's free, with a ton of money to boot from royalties, etc.

I played a round of golf at Old Orchard many years ago. I came out as a single so they put me in a group that included Matthews. I rode in a cart with him. Even though the talk never turned to small children I still feel like I need to take another shower now.

Wow! Thanks, RMT. I've never seen that. I certainly know some of the people mentioned. A sad, sick story. Meaux definitely had a love/hate relationship with musicians. He had a much different relationship with young girls.

It's amazing how he kept so much secret... and a lot still is secret. I had forgotten all about the coke, which surprises me, since I heard so much about it when it all came out. He also handed out the qualudes, but that was probably not something he was as into later. Coke can really grab someone, but it's not why he did what he did. It was just an enabler.

The oldest girl is still really, really screwed up. Her younger sister seems to have moved on with her life, thank god. I can't believe he's out and still has millions. I can tell you that the 2 girls mentioned didn't see much of his money at all. The system dropped the ball. Not entirely, but he didn't get what he deserved.
