It was still legal jargon though. Subtle to the average reader. They never said "You are an idiot." Or "WTF were you thinking?" They use legal language. Learning to read and enjoy those opinions has been a highlight of the Trump saga. Also DOJ filings, same thing. The way they make arguments that are blistering without using modern meme language is so fun.
The speed and pace of their ruling, to the average reader, is seen as a huge slap down and can be interpreted as 'you are an idiot'.
List of things that Trump will be ordered not to do while under house arrest that are untenable: * play a round of golf * socialize in MaL * dine in MaL * call in to Fox News / NewsMax / One America News Network * fund raise for his political PAC * stay in his beach house Following rules is not how Trump rolls.
I wonder how many underage prostitutes and slaves greasy Dershowitz can afford by taking on the My Pillow Guy as his client.
What she did is not grounds for her removal. She made a ruling that was controversial and she gave what appeared to be a good faith basis for her ruling. The higher court stated that her ruling was not appropriate and remanded it back to her with a ruling to follow. She then changed her ruling. Lower court judges can be shamed sometimes by having a high court over rule them, but unless it is clearly purposeful and happens often, it usually doesn't result in removal or sanctions by the Court. She may have prevented herself from a promotion in the future, but that is about it. She will take her lumps and likely be very careful going forward. She doesn't want to be viewed as inept by her peers.
Did she give a good faith basis? The Trump team twice refiled motions before her after she told them they were poorly/wrongly written/filed and gave them guidance on what they should say and seek from her. In her ruling she actually gave the Trump relief they didn't seek and dismissed jurisdictional concerns and precedent arguments. The appeals court only got to rule on a narrow element of her ruling and still slapped her around and called her ruling ridiculous and specifically said she abused her discretion. If this panel got to consider her entire ruling I can't even imagine how harsh their ruling would be. It's not just that they said she got the law wrong, they appear flabbergasted that she even had the gall to issue the ruling she did. At one point in their ruling they made some comment along the lines of not thinking some of the issues even merited an explanation of why she was wrong but they will do it anyway.
And yet, she'll be the next Supreme Court Justice appointment when a Republican resumes the presidency!
or perhaps she was worried about death threats from trump supporters? It is hard for me to fathom someone botching a ruling this badly, and she does not have the pedigree of a moron. Seems to me she either reached a ruling she acted to issue bc of her political leanings, or she didn’t want the death threats
43 empty folders marked classified? What could go wrong? Non-Presidents would be in custody or running from The Law. DoJ should demand that Trump either supply the documents from the missing folders or go to jail … do not collect $200
This might be a far fetch but isn't there some type of chain of custody with these documents? Its kind of scary to have all those "empty" folders.......where are the contents and will they be able to tell if he took empty folders or the contents also and what in the hell was in the folders
It's scary we have all these "patriotic" Republicans trying to downplay this threat to national security. We had a poster on here trying to sell that some of these top secret docs could have been just Christmas cards. Scary times. If Obama was caught in something like this the Republicans would have went wild
There is absolutely a chain of custody that is supposed to be there for these documents. As many who have had high level clearance said they couldn't just take these documents. Even for a President they are supposed to keep track of what classified documents they have an how they are storing them.
The folders are also marked enough to know their contents, IIRC. The DoJ knows which documents are missing.
