Wow. How do you leave Horry open? His name had to have come up in the Detroit huddle. If San Antonio hangs on to this, it'll be the first time I've doubted Detroit winning it all since the playoffs started. If the Spurs do go on to win, Robert Horry is about as solely responsible as it gets for one player. No way SA wins this game otherwise. Just remarkable...he has no pulse.
LOL, Pistons double-teamed Manu and let Horry wide open beyond the 3pt line. They deserve to lose. They are bunch of idiots forgetting who carried the Spurs in the clutch time. Idiots!!!!
Detroit fans have got to feel sick right now. They should be on cruise control to their 2nd title right now...instead, they're pretty much dead in the water. Larry Brown really didn't make good decisions down the stretch. I think I would've had 'Sheed take that last shot.
HOrry basically carries SA to victory. First the left hand nasty slam.. then the game winning three, just unbelievable!
What was so incredible was that Horry played his worst half of basketball of his career in the first half. Meanwhile Duncan was playing some of his best ball of the series. Then, late in the game, their play just flip-flopped completely. Duncan choked horribly and Horry played the best 17 minutes of ball in his career.
They were killing Rasheed on the radio today for leaving Horry open, saying he choked, did that not see him make that turnaround jumper to put them up by two in the first place? Does that mean that everyone who has left Robert Horry open in big moments has choked as well? What about Rip and Billups missing 4 shots at the end of overtime? Whatever.
You would think Rasheed would know better than anyone not to take his eye off Horry after all the daggers Horry used to hit against Sheed during those great Blazers-Lakers playoff matchups.
You would think they would have figured it out after his 3rd or 4th 3-ball that he is the one guy they can't leave open. Larry Brown, Sheed, somebody really screwed their team by being a dumbass the last 21 minutes of that game. Horry is so freaken irritating in a Spurs uniform. It ain't over. I expect a close game 6 like we saw in game 5. Detroit has won a lot of must have games in hostile environments versus oustanding teams the last 2 years and a very mentally tough. Right now the team playing better will win whichever court it is, and these are two very closely matched teams. If Detroit wins game 6, all pressure is on the Spurs in game 7. Sure, Spurs clearly have the upperhand, and Detroit has no margin for error left, but the outcome is still in doubt. Think of it this way, leaving SA last week how many people thought Detroit would destroy the Spurs in 2 games and lose 1 game at the wire to bring a return for game 6 in SA. Most Pistons and their fans would have taken their chances needing just to win the last 2 games to win the series--that is a lot less daughting than going down 0-2 the way the did and needing to go 4-1 in 5 games with the Spurs. It will be hard, but it can be done.
