Will supporters of the GW Bush administration ever stop trying to blame things on Clinton?

The way this thread is going you would think that Clinton had issued the commutation of Scooter Libby.

Assuming this lie is true, remind me again what the thinking is behind the WH trying to discredit Wilson by attacking his wife?

The only thing I can think of is, that by spreading the other lie that Plame sent Wilson on the trip, Wilson is a henpecked husband doing the bidding of his wife. This would, in their twisted view, make him not manly enough to have his arguments considered when Big Dick and Georgie pushed their lies for war.

The whole thing has this weird high school nerd context to it.

It isn't apparent to a reasonable person based on evidence that is in the public.

    Occam's razor.

I would rather that people who break laws (especially when the law was broken as part of an effort to cover up larger crimes), are convicted by a jury of their peers, and are sentenced to prison by a judge in good standing go to jail. There are exceptions to this rule, but Libby is not one of them.

And again, Clinton has not even been accused of pardoning people in his administration who broke laws, got caught, and were convicted and sentenced.

I guess I have to admit that I have flip flopped on Bush. I didn't support him in 2000, he got my unconditional support on 9/11/01, and then lost it again when he invaded Iraq on false pretenses.

The difference between me and t_j is that I flip flop my support of a person based on the issues and he flip flops on issues based on the person.

Clinton should have told everyone to lie and stonewall on Whitewater. Had he done that, he would have never been impeached. ANd he could say "Don't worry, I will pardon you and reward you for your loyalty".

Hey - got to hand it to Bush...he has figured out how to commit crimes and get away with it. Now every president - democrat and republican, can follow his great example.

This is rich. t_j is calling someone out for not remembering facts. ROFL

Bush is the "one person responsible for the war" as he is "the decider." Whether he wants it to or not, that responsibility lies with him.

Not according to the CIA, which started this whole thing when they reported to DOJ that one of their undercover agents was outed illegally. This has been confirmed by several people including George Tenet in his book, but then again, reading comprehension isn't your strong suit so reading the book would be pointless.

Congress has a lower approval rating than Bush because they haven't ended the war.

The joke here is you. Even after you have been proven utterly, completely wrong on every point you ever attempted to make regarding Iraq, you still try to twist it around into a negative statement about Democrats or "libs."

No wonder your party has been turned into a joke.

Well, looks like I was way wrong. Congrats GWB, you now have a legitimate claim for the "most hated president ever" mark

The survey also found that President George W. Bush's job-
approval rating dropped to a record low 21 percent. Seventy-four
percent said they disapprove of his performance, the poll found.

    - via Bloomberg today.

My understanding is that by claiming that Plame sent Wilson would undermine the integrity of Wilson's mission by insinuating that Wilson had decided ahead of time to embarrass the Admin. and got his wife to send him to Niger knowing he wasn't going to find anything to substantiate the claims of uranium sales to Iraq.

Putting the kibosh on Tony Snowjob's spin.

    via TPM--

I think Tony Snow and the president need some help. Snow is out there saying that President Clinton has chutzpah for criticizing President Bush's commutation of Scooter Libby.

But this really isn't that complicated.

Setting aside whether Scooter Libby should spend 0 days in jail for what most people spend from 1 to 3 years in jail, the key here is that it's inappropriate for the president to pardon or commute a sentence in a case in which he (i.e., the president) is a party to the same underlying crime. Because it amounts to obstruction of justice.

    It's really not that complicated.

    Bush 'approved intelligence leak'

Lewis Libby is accused of lying to investigators

US President George W Bush authorised the leak of classified material to the media to defend the invasion of Iraq, a former White House aide has testified.

The testimony, cited in court papers, comes from Lewis Libby, who is facing trial in connection with a separate leak involving a CIA agent's identity.

The article further states: No-one has been charged with a crime over the leaking of Mrs Plame's name to reporters.

...So...this suggests no crime has been committed.

Furthermore, if the President authorised the leak of classified material does this not invalidate a "crime" irregardless of the fact, apparently "no crime has been committed"? (as the article states...)

    :)
