nobody should be prosecuted for protesting peacefully. but people should be prosecuted if they broke laws.

and people who incite insurrections where they get their own supporters killed, get hundreds of cops beaten and cause a few to die should be held accountable too.

trumpers have zero credibility when they talk about not going after people who peacefully protest though.

What about the peaceful protesters who had their fists soundly beaten by the faces of the Capital Police Officers?

lets try for a 3rd time...

can you define what "woke" is and then explain how me thinking january 6th insurrectionists should be held accountable for their crimes makes me "woke"?

I saw the interview with Vance.

The first 2 things he said, I was totally down with. (peaceful protesters deserve pardons, violent protesters do not).

Then he said you also deserve a pardon if you were "provoked."

So that's what they're going to use to pardon everyone. They were all "provoked."

Pretty interesting footage tbh. But is the insinuation here that the reason protesters entered the Capitol was that they were provoked by the measures taken by police against them? Because, one, I haven't heard about any J6 convict using that argument. Besides, police violence doesn't justify commission of other crimes. Two, it doesn't make a lot of sense for a "peaceful protester" to feel like they were allowed in by officers after they displayed this much belligerence -- you kinda have to pick just one narrative. Three, if this video shows excessive use of force by police (and I'm not sure that it does), that means you should be focused on reprimanding/prosecuting police, not freeing convicts. You could charge the officer in that video for throwing tear gas (if there was anything wrong with it) without letting anyone go.

What this video looks like to me is footage of an undermanned police response to a large demonstration where the police felt they were not in control. They were still somewhat mindful of the lessons from the '60s and '70s and didn't start shooting, but hoped to disperse the crowd with tear gas. They probably made some tactical mistakes in trying to disperse the crowd when they didn't have the manpower to be effective. But we know that after this video they recognized the problem and withdrew to the Capitol to avoid having a confrontation go sideways. But they were pursued.

I think I've said this before with the women's march, BLM, and other anti-Trump protests, I have respect for a protester who is ready and willing to be arrested and maybe convicted for his civil disobedience. In the lunch counter protests of the civil rights era, the point was to be arrested. I have not so much respect for someone who would set a building on fire and run away, like we had in some BLM events; or protesting your university's ties to Israel, but hiding your face so you don't get expelled; or in this case, attacking the Capitol and pretending like you didn't do anything wrong while you run to Daddy Trump for a pardon. If you stand for something, stand by your actions. You undermine your own cause when you can't be proud of your protest.

It's the maga playbook, put a ridiculous analogy into an otherwise normal comment so you can circle back and say "I didn't lie", we just have different views of what "provoked" means..........................I am sorry judge, this man provoked me, so I had to hit him the head with a flag pole, I was provoked so I am innocent  We should start taking bets on the % of "patriots" will be pardoned, I think it will be close to 75% that will walk free and MTG will be waiting to give them all a big hug

Pretty much. It’s idiotic that regardless of right, left, smart, dumb, gay, what have you; it’s one side vs the other everytime. It’s amazing just 15 years ago people were all about bipartisanship and now it’s two parties throwing **** at each other like we are all in a zoo behind keyboards. What a world we live in.

Republicans were always supposed to be about "backing the blue" and supporting the police. But now they're going to throw them under the bus by saying the police "provoked" the protestors so they can let them all go.

Today is the day, all the patriots will be set free from the unjust charges and sentences heaped upon them by the traitorous Biden/Harris regime. Free at last, free at last.
