How can Dykes be an active duty Marine and have a criminal conviction from the 2017 Unite the Right rally?

How can Dyke still be an active duty Marine after this 5 year sentence?

What does it take to get dishonorably discharged?

He was arrested in March of 2023 on charges related to the march. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of burning an object with intent to intimidate.

In May 2023, he was discharged from the military under “other than honorable” conditions.

LOL..."massive". its like 100 people. and theyre singing! thats obviously far worse than january 6th!

i guess we missed the part where president biden spent months on twitter telling them to come to DC because it will "be wild", incited them to march on the capitol and "fight like hell" and his personal attorney said "lets have trial by combat". and then we also missed the part where they attacked police while carrying biden flags and confederate flags.

but do let us know when they start assaulting cops and threatening to hang the vice president and trashing politicians offices!

Anybody vandalizing, trespassing, and/or assaulting officers should be arrested and held accountable.

One thing is that Harris won't call them patriots, hostages, or threaten to pardon them.

Pretty sure some people are going to get time for this. Nothing wrong with protesting but don't be an idiot either.

Yes they should be prosecuted. Just like those who assaulted LEO on Jan. 6.

Exactly. Break the law, be prepared to pay the consequences. It doesn’t matter what you are protesting or who you support. Not sure why some people think some deserve a free pass or a pardon. Law breakers should go to jail and learn right from wrong.

Nothing wrong with peaceful protests, just don’t break the law.

Funny how nobody is saying that these people should be allowed to go Scot free, that they were just tourists. You see the difference between you and the rest of the folks here, right?

Context matters. Did they try to overturn an election result? Yes or no?

Should all the people there be prosecuted, even those that didn't assault law enforcement (just like Jan. 6)?

If they were engaged in illegal behavior like trespass and attempting to disrupt a function of Congress yes.

Yes. Even if only If 2 guys beat a cop, a few break down barriers, then some of the group breaks out windows and enters a restricted building, then everyone in the group entering through the broken window should be arrested too, whether they were the ones assaulting the cops or not. They were part of the group, and participated in the crime. They could have turned around and left when the violence started, the barricades were knocked down, cops were beaten, and windows were bashed in. If they entered the building they took part in the crime.

Also what happened at the pro-Palestine protests isn't a defense regarding what happened in Jan. 6th. It's a whataboutism argument.
