it took half an hour to cook up that zinger?

please don't make me move this to D&D. This isn't about whether hockey is a good/bad/eskimo sport.

i know you have 12 forwards - because i play college hockey. but i also know that when you are up by a large amount, you don't necessarily need to play all players. did you see naslund play more than 2 minutes in the third after the first 2 periods were filled with fighting - no...canucks were smart enough to keep him out of it - too bad the avalanche weren't also smart.

but yeah, i'm excited about our playoff chances with Rucinsky and Sanderson joining the squad. also - i really hope bert is back for the playoffs - i think it would help prevent us from getting knocked out early. he's a guy that gets under other teams skin and can get the nucks pumped.

Playoffs should be interesting this year. Even if Bertuzzi is still suspended, we still have plenty of firepower with Nazzy, Morrison, and the Sedin twins. They're gonna need UN peacemakers to come in and keep things down if the Canucks and Avs meet up in the conference finals.

BTW, I forgot to say in my earlier posts that I really hope Steve Moore can fully recover from his injuries and keep playing hockey.

I watched it on ESPN, that hit by Bert what ever his name is, was totally uncalled for. He should set the new record in suspended games. First the punch, then the face plant into the ice....A******!

    nah.

there's been worse done. many people try to compare this to mcsorley in "crime-wise" type thing...there are similarities between the two...but mcsorley used a stick to swing across brashear's head. using a stick as a weapon is worse IMHO.

but yeah, i say suspend him for the season and fine him $100,000.

Basketball would be a lot better if they allowed fights like hockey.

Here comes the rolleyes ---------------------->

If I jacked a guy like that and broke his neck I would go to jail for a long time - hmmmmm...

Boy, while not quite as graphic IMO, that punch, and the resulting damage that it did to the victim remind me vividly of Rudy T and Kermit Washington. :(

Glad to see some Rocket Fans donning Canuck colours, for I am one of them as well...

Revenge against Moore is one thing, but doing it in a gutless and low-class fashion is another...

I'd hope that Bert will be suspended until the Nucks reach the third round... and that, ladies and gentlemen, is very slim...

Sanderson and Rucinsky simply cannot replace Bert...

and also, please replace Cloutier with Auld... since the former cannot handle extreme pressure even in the regular season, not to mention the playoffs...

Anyways, here are the lines for the rest of the season and playoffs:

    Sanderson - Morrison - Naslund
    D. Sedin - H. Sedin - Rucinsky
    Ruutu - Cooke - Brookbank
    May - Linden - Keane

    Jovanovski - Salo
    Ohlund - Sopel
    Bergevin - Malik

    Cloutier :)mad: ) - Hedberg

Spare parts: Allen, Baumgartner, Chubarov, Federov

    Correction:

In teh regular season they can not replace him.

In the post season a sack of potatoes on skates can replace his production. Also a sack of potatoes will not incite the Minnesota Wild crowd.

I can't believe some of you are worried about how your favorite hockey team will fare without Bertuzzi. Some dude had his neck broken and face smashed into the ice, the least of concerns should be about potential playoff implications.

are you still worried at all about the houston rockets and how they will do??? you are probably interested....same as us with the canucks.

these are two seperate issues - interest in a team and interest in a persons health. obviously i wish the best of luck to moore - but i still want the nucks to do good as well.

What does Bertuzzi sucker punching someone have to do with the CLASSY and AWESOME Rockets? The Rockets being on the receiving end of a "Bertuzzi" 25 years ago, feels no sympathy for such a cheap shot scumbag. However, if Stevie ever pulls off such an ahole move and breaks Najera's neck, the playoffs would be pretty low on my scale of things. Playoffs be damned.

Why are you worried about the NBA when Kobe is in Court for allegedly raping a girl. You shoudl quit worrying about the NBA until that case is resolved and that girl's life is back to normal.

If things stand as they are the Nucks are gonna end up playing the Ave's in the semi's if they get past Dallas, which wouldn't be easy. Being the #4 seed is a rough road to get to the Stanley Cup finals since if they get past Dallas and Colorado they would end up probably facing Detroit in the conference finals. By then the Wings will have Draper, Datsyuk and Lang back. Not to mention Joseph back in goal and Hatcher just got reactivated on defense. If Detroit is back at full strength I don't see anyone stopping them.

i don't remember the last time a team has had to play 3 of the top 5 teams to get to the finals from the western conference. it's a simple fact that an upset will happen.4th seed will not be the bottom seed in the 2nd round.

oh...and if Giggy can stop the wings...so can any hot goalie. Vokoun??? Kiprosoff??? Cloutier (don't forget...he did beat detroit in the first two games IN DETROIT a few years back...before sucking)??????

The West is just brutal (much like in the NBA). Dallas is catching fire, and Colorado and Detroit were already great teams and they both solidified their rosters at the deadline. So if you have to go thru those 3 teams Vancouver will have definetely earned their spot.

I always look at goaltending in the playoffs and although Dallas will prolly be on the road from the start they may have the best goaltending in the West. Good news for Colorado and Detroit is they both have very solid #2 goalies (LeGace and Salo) who can step up if Cujo or Abeshier (sp?) falters. And with their offensive talent they may not even need a great goalie to win the Cup.

I don't believe that criminal action should be taken. I think it's very very hard for a sport that condones violence to be able to draw a line like that. If you're going to criminally prosecute people, you need to get rid of all the violence in the game.
