I was just watching the TV guide channel to see what was on (I don't have a digital guide on the TV in my room), and they were playing a "Jon and Kate: Is it too late?" show. These are the facts I gleaned from it while watching for a few minutes: 1) They make $75,000 per episode (and the recent seasons have had 40 episodes). 2) They make additional money off of books and speaking arrangements. 3) They've both had plastic surgery, with the wife having a pretty significant amount of work done. 4) The wife has been absolutely loving the fame and new-found lifestyle, while the husband hasn't been too fond of it. From how they were talking, it sounds like this was a major point of contention in their marriage. Kinda sounds like the husband wanted to get back to more of a normal life while the wife wants the fame and to be a "star". I guess the fame > her marriage and kids. Man, whatever happened to "for richer or poorer?" Seems like the show was an enormous blessing for them in that it brought them a huge amount of money that they could use to provide for their children, but they stayed in the spotlight for too long instead of taking the money and running (or at least the wife is).
A bit more complicated, but that's pretty much it, at least the way I saw it. I also don't think Jon liked being a stay-at-home dad. Don't really care much about this, but is there actual proof that she got a lot of work done? She doesn't look that different now than she did on the early episodes IMO (well...after the tummy tuck and the change back to being blonde). Just more makeup (or "professional" makeup?), a crappy haircut, and she's addicted to tanning beds now. Maybe I'm not a good judge on this kind of stuff though...not to mention that this wouldn't rule out liposuction or something like that.
From what I gather, it seems like she was always on trips promoting the show and books, yet he was the one frequently stuck at home doing the solo dad work. She also kept talking about how she does everything herself. But I saw the most recent birthday party episode and you'll notice in the background there's 5 people working for the show scrambling around doing all the work. She's created a bigger illusion that probably strained the relationship. (Not to excuse his cheating, of course.)
I was kinda half listening, half reading while that part was on, but they mentioned the tummy tuck, something with her breasts, and some face stuff (which I think was comprised of non-surgical work). But like I said, it didn't have my full attention, so I don't know if they had any kind of confirmation.
She did admit that they had a family helper...although IIRC, it was family helper, not helpers. They used to show some of them in the past, but for privacy reasons (I guess?), they quit doing that. Of course, for a time, she was doing most/all the work with the kids. That would make sense I guess. Don't really know about her breasts...she didn't really wear a lot of bikinis in the early episodes. They did talk about them during the tummy tuck, but the doctor was just telling her to get a better bra.
According to some research I did TODAY, Kate may have cheated first - with the bodyguard. From what I read on 6/23/09 (Today), Jon had suspected as much, and threatened to hire a PI to follow her around on trips and such. Also, the pics I posted earlier were found on a routine google search conducted this afternoon.
Man, you would think someone that had given birth to 8 children would have a womanly figure....If you take out the boobs and put a guy's head on there, you would just think it's a guy in a bikini. Anyways, I feel bad for Jon. I don't watch the show. But I feel bad for the guy from hearing about it. I know he cheated (whether it was first or not, it doesn't matter), so I don't feel as bad. The ones who I feel bad for are the kids. It's bad enough to have your parents go through a divorce at a young age, but these kids will relive it for the rest of their lives. Not only that, but with the way the parents are going, they will live their lives out on tv (I also saw that they were making 75,000 per episode...how much of that goes into a trust fund for each kid?). What it all boils down to is this....If you're going to reproduce with someone, I hope to God you truly do love them and will be committed to them. If not, it's a shame. Things happen, I know. But FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please if you're going to have 8 kids with someone, and then exploit them on TV, please PLEASE, you better stay together for the kids. And please do not agree to any TV deals. I don't care how many people think it's cute that there family has 8 kids, and they can watch their every move. These kind of things drive wedges in between people. How many reality couples do you see living happily ever after. My grandpa had 24 kids in his family. And that is no joke. He quit school after the 5th grade so that he could go to work to provide extra income for his parents. Both of his parents worked to also provide support. His family stayed together. Granted you didn't have TLC then, but you didn't see them parading around in the media. It's just sickening how many people will exploit innocent family members or friends these days....

Yeah he did. Then the media flipped the script and was saying that Kate cheated too, and paparazzi took a pic of her and it was either the limo driver, body guard or whomever the guy was and said that she was apparently cheating with him. Like I said before, the media caused this divorce.
I've been pretty disgusted that they've been airing these episodes. Really awkward to watch as an outsider, and it certainly won't be good if/when the kids watch them at some point. Should have never been a season 5 given their marriage problems (the show can't be helping). And as can be seen in my last few posts, I was a fan of the show. I'm actually not too worried about this. I know they were planning out wills and stuff years ago, so I wouldn't doubt it if they planned this out too. Plus, they give back a lot to charities, so I'm assuming they put aside some of the money for people other than themselves. Although I do fear that perhaps Kate may be pushing their charity donations just so it makes them (or her?) look good. Although if I'm wrong, I'd be really disgusted by their actions, given all the trips to Utah/California, the spa, new motorcycle, new car, etc. Never saw him do it on the show (only admitted to poor decisions, not cheating though), but I don't really pay attention to anything said outside of the show. And yeah, I don't think the show/media helped their marriage (despite their comments). Or more so the popularity of it (doubt Jon liked turning out The Soup and seeing everyone make fun of him). Might have been OK had it been like the first few seasons (10-15 30-minute episodes a season, Jon working, Kate staying at home, etc.).

I watch a ton of plastic surgery before and after on DiscHealth (breasts) and I can spot a chin implant a mile away. Her lips used to stick out further than the chin, now the chin has a point and it sticks out further.
