I love everyone in here claiming to not know who they are. You guys were all glued to the TV last night. Just admit it. Even the OP. He came in here hoping to see a thread about it so he could tell everyone he's never heard of them. When he didn't see one, he made one...but under the guise of being glad not to see one. You guys are so transparent.
i wouldn't say glued, but i switched over between half-innings of the cws. my girlfriend loves that show and we both predicted when i first watched it with her that jon was going to leave her at some point. i just wanted to see my prediction come true.
I don't watch, but I know who they are and what the story was. I just don't care about their daily life and how they exploit their children. It's pretty sad, really.
Started seeing these names 'John and Kate' on all the little rags at the check-out lines at the grocery stores, what, a month ago or so? Stuff like "She is mean to him!' That's all I really got from any of it. Absolutely no clue who these people are. And as far as 'reality tv', the next 'reality tv show' I watch will be the first one I watch. So yeah count me in the group of 'don't know, don't care'.
yeah, i'm sure those eight kids would much rather live a life without free trips to disney world, san diego, hawaii, any random cool place for kids within a 200 mile radius.
Funny that this thread was started because I was going to start one a few weeks ago when I first found out who and what this was about. The way I found out was pretty funny. I have several student workers working in my office during summer school and two of the guys get into a discussion about whether they would bang somebody named Kate Gosilin. I wasn't sure who she was so I did a search when I got home, just to be safe, and that's when I first found out about them.
i don't think this would've ended any different had this been on tv or not (and they basically said the same thing last night). kids of divorce are not exclusive to kids on television.
i knew who they were originally b/c years ago when i used to watch oprah, she'd bring them onto the show periodically. i didn't know they had a reality tv show til like a mth ago when tabloids, morning radio, etc would talk abt them. i don't watch it tho.
But very few have to see their parent's divorce, and their entire life for that matter, played out on tv for the whole world to see.
I really doubt the validity of all the claims by people that they never heard of these two or don't know who they are, etc. I don't watch it, never seen a single moment, but of course I know who they are. If you don't, you are leading a pretty closed off life from the news considering they've been a headline story on news broadcasts, CNN's frontpage, political talk shows, newspapers, magazine covers, late night talk shows (Tonight Show, Letterman, etc.) Oprah, The View, The O'Reilly Factor, The Daily Show, and on and on and on.
Hi guys! I just stopped by to say I don't know who these people are either! I'M AWESOME! I need to go through all the music threads now to do the same. I've never heard a Chris Brown song before! I just wanted to let you all know that.
i agree with that. i don't think it's an ideal situation at all (obviously) nor did jon and kate think that they'd head down this road when they decided to do the show. these kids have had a very unique childhood and i'm guessing that when they reflect on it when they're older, there will be things they will be upset about but at the same time, they'll also recognize that they were able to have things and experiences that they never would have had if their lives had not been chronicled on television. basically, i think exploit is way too strong a word.
