Maybe not an offensive Machine like St Louis but a Division Championship Machine The bet is over and you know it
the bet was twofold, was it not?? 96 wins?? hello?? is there an echo in here??? and it ain't over. there is no guarantee the phils don't get hot. or the fish don't get hot. there's no guarantee that the braves haven't already played their best baseball. man, i hope the 'stros sweep those jokers!!! go 'stros!!!
I just can't get optimistic about our upcoming series' against the Expos when we couldn't manage any better than a split at home against the freaking Diamondbacks. It doesn't help that Miller is likely done for the year and Pettite has been worthless. It's basically "Roy and Roger and pray for rain." On another note, why the hell did the Mets trade Kazmir? They're even further out than we are. If Kris Benson hasn't been the most overrated pitching prospect of the last decade...
To be fair to Benson, he had electric stuff when he was drafted and first came up - then he underwent Tommy John surgery, and rather than let him recuperate, the pirates decided that hey, the end of a 100-loss season is the perfect time to throw him into the ground and permanently slag his arm. Kinda like what the Marlins did to Dempster. And the Pirates didn't even get anything worthwhile for him.
Oh no Max don't act like that. You know the bet had nothing to do with 96 wins. Bet#1 was the Braves would win the division. Bet#2 was The Braves would win more games than the Stros. You know that.
you're right...the post from the other guy in that thread that we linked to in this thread threw me off. a nice sweep of the braves this week will have me sitting pretty!!
It must be a blast being such a pessimist. I don't understand why you'd even follow sports if you felt like some of the people here...
Actually Munro is going tonight ... And look how the Astros have done historically against Thompson ... I think we got a good shot tonight Lets just get to within a game or two of the Cubs before our August 20 series. Here's to hoping we can at least make those some BIG and important games
death, taxes, and braves pitchers getting calls. the one to bagwell was sorta bad, the one to ensberg the next at bat was bad, and the one to beltran was just terrible. and that change up to vizcaino was definitely high. and then everett gets called out at first on a close play after that ump has already called two braves safe on close plays, one of which the replay showed he was clearly out. of course, from when i started watching in the 3rd thompson didn't make a mistake the entire time. everything either painted the corners, got called like it did, or was out of the strike zone. nothing high and over the middle for the most part.
