This is incredibly sad. B Roy is a professional and overall a good person. Its sad to see him retire at such an early age. He has so much potential to be a great player in this league but he never had a chance to reach his max level. Sad day for the NBA. Im a big fan of Roy and it hurts me to see him retire. Good luck and enjoy the rest of your life B Roy. I hope everything will turn out great for you and your family. Good Luck
A damn shame. I really enjoyed watching Roy play. Hoping for him that regenerative medicine reaches the point where he can enjoy life without grinding bone on bone in those knees.
Sad sad sad. He was my second favorite non-Rocket, to Durant. At least this will finally end the BS crap about us moving down a slot in the draft after winning a meaningless game whenever he was drafted.
He should try the experimental route... at worst he will be a good research candidate. I can't imagine having basketball be your elite skill, but then suddenly going from borderline superstar to normal guy. I hope he took full advantage of his time. Maybe it will motivate him to fund research for new medical tech
Brandon Roy contemplating a comeback? [rquoter]I have no idea whether to take this report seriously or not because I'm not familiar with the site or the author. I hope Roy could return. This will be good news for the basketball community. As much as he plays good against our team, it would be good news for basketball at large. But of course, most of life will be after basketball and this must be considered as well. On a side note, Oden's situation is just sad.
In light of the article above, it seems Roy is pursuing some kind of new or illegal procedure / treatment. Maybe he retired from the NBA to avoid league tests during this treatment, and then he will try to return when he is clean again.
He's better off letting it go. His knee may start feeling better, but that doesn't mean it can handle an 82 game schedule.
At this point, he's a 7th/8th man on a Playoff Contender There is no way he can get picked up by the Blazers, so look at maybe NY or LAL\LAC or even MIA to be associated to his comeback trail because all they can offer is the min, and he don't need the money. Backup to Caron Butler? Backup to Koby? Backup to Wade? Backup to Shumpert/Fields? He can bring Playoff cool factor to a number of these young teams. He was always a leader.
I would hate to see a player of his caliber come back and struggle. He prob wont even be 50% of his former form.
Hill never retired, but he basically stepped away from the game. He was always injured. Eventually he was able to regain his health and contribute. I think that has to serve as inspiration. Roy wont ever a star again, but he might be able to add value in the right situation.
I don't know. I would hate for the guy to try and come back and just end up doing further damage. He should just remain positive, enjoy life, and not be an idiot about his money. However, if he truly wants to come back, then I can respect that.
I'm sorry, I know this thread has a reason to be updated with Mr. Roy's recent revelation. However, seeing it on the front page has me aching for that Dumb and Dumber gif. WE LANDED ON THE MOON! LOL!
I dunno, he tore the league up in his first years and that was right when the Yao/McGrady window was open. I still maintain that the '07 playoffs was our best chance at a championship, can you imagine Roy on that team? Disappointing end to an exciting career, but as a Rockets fan I would take the rental if it meant a championship, hell even just a finals appearance.
