True but we would have been a big time contender for a one or two year period. Rudy Gay looking like the best pick in the 2006 draft though.

I read a tweet today that claimed A LOT of NBA teams were scared off Roy because medical records stated that Brandon had shaky knees.

I wonder if Morey/Dawson knew something about the knees and thus backed off trying to improve their offer to Minnesota?

It was pretty well documented. Roy was viewed as the most NBA-ready player, and the one who would most likely be the best player at the time of the draft, but he fell to 6th because teams were worried about the injuries.

Bothered by problems with his right knee (patella femoral irritation), he decided to sit out the 2004-05 season in hopes that his knee would recover. He had microfracture surgery performed on his knee, a risky surgery that not all players have been able to recover from.

it's not risky. it's just something you have to do. there is no recovery if you don't have it done. also, if you don't have done then your chances of needing knee replacement much earlier in life shoot up.
