Wow, I really sorry to hear this. Roy is such a great talent and we came within a hair of getting him. Too freaky.
Is he not aware of the risk of even walking without a meniscus? The articular cartilage on his bones are going to basically dissapear and he will be in so much pain later on and will be confined to a wheelchair.
Do the Blazers remind you of the Rockets last year? Roy with knee problems=T-mac with knee problems Oden misses several weeks each season=Yao misses several weeks each season. Aldridge healthy PF and 3rd best player=Scola healthy PF and 3rd best player
It's sad, but seems to be so common with so many athlete's of his caliber these days. How many big stars end their careers early because of knee issues and such.
This is so sad. He's my favorite player in the NBA and he's fun to watch. He's a really humble guy and it sucks to see it go down to this. I guess it's just time to watch his career deteriorate from here.
Tried to make a crossover which looked rusty and just came down limping. Likks like his knee gave up on him. There is a video on nba.com
Its true. Why do you think everyone but the Spurs passed on him? Blair could have been a low lottery pick ala PP if only he had healthy knees.
Last playoffs, I was wondering why BRoy came back from surgery so soon. So sad, Roy is still so young. The long 82-game schedule is taking a huge toll on the players' bodies.
Take all that money and retire. Better to live a healthy, wealthy life and wonder what could have been then to wake up every single day in excruciating pain for the rest of your life.

Greg Oden is also discussed in this interview...
Unfortunate, but I guess we're lucky to have not selected him. Imagine the bind we'd be in with Tracy, Yao and Brandon all having extensive injuries.
They are stuck with that contract for him now, you would have thought they new the risks......but wow... They are the new Houston Rockets..... DD
Using Ron Harper as the example, BRoy can tough it out for a number of years more as reliable bench scorer/defender with a bone-on-bone condition- he will just have to take the needle regularly. And when he decides to hang it up, the first call he makes is to a sports orthopedist to get both knees replaced. Question is- does life in the NBA make it worth the pain?
