what a game by roy. i bought myself a roy jersey tshirt while i was at the blazers game up in portland a week ago. he's gonna be something else when it's all said and done. he is one smooth operator. fun player to watch. props to my boy lamarcus for playing robin on this team.
Yeah, that's not the least bit premature. Perhaps he should wait until he's at least been to the playoffs once before working on his induction speech, though.
I dont wanna take anything from B Roy's big night. But i think now more than ever attacking guards can have their way with Phoenix since Raja Bell is gone.
I think he's good, but I don't think he's a dominant player in the same way LBJ or Wade is. I don't think he's athletic enough to completely dominate like they do. He's not an explosive athlete, and is kinda boring to watch. I think he and Kevin Martin are similar players.
Brandon Roy's nickname is BRO or ROY (Rookie of the year) jk He looks like Shawn Marion, just like Brooks looks like Joe Johnson.
I'm not sure if I've told this story before but yoru statement reminded me of the time I met Amare Stoudemire on a flight from Phoenix to LA(The summer after his rookie year) and I asked him if he was Shawn Marion!!!!!
I'm also on the B.Roy love train. I love his whole demeanor, calm, collected, professional, unlike some other NBA players.
One thing that has not been said enough about Brendon Roy is that he helped to turn around the culture of the Blazers team. This team doesn't have the slightest resemblance of the Jail Blazers any more. And Roy and his leadership have a lot to do with it.
I'm a big Kevin Martin fan but he is not a better scorer than Roy. No way no how. Perhaps you may think he is because that's all Martin does is score he's very one dimensional. Roy has an all around game along with the threat of scoring huge points... he can score from anywhere. If Roy were to focus his game on strictly scoring points, take more shots and not focus on creating for others he'd average even more points than he currently does. I will give credit to Kevin Martin in the fact that he gets the majority of his points from shooting mid - long range jumpers (most difficult shot). However, Roy's ability to break down defenses at will and get to the FT line makes him a more consistent and better scorer than Martin.
What?? Are you guys trying to compare Kevin Martin and Brandon Roy. That's like a Reggie Miller/Clyde Drexler comparison. Yeah, Martin can shoot but he is no where near as good at breaking down the D, playing D, or creating for his teammates. Roy has the total package. Those are the kinds of players i like watching. The ones that can contribute in more than one way. If Kevin Martin's shot is off he is not nearly as useful. ...and i'm not usually the one to be on the bandwagon, supporting the current media darling, but Brandon Roy is the real deal. He's so talented people forget that he is really athletic too. If we had gotten Roy in the draft, i think that would have been one of the few realistic reasons to move Mcgrady.
you got to them before me. ...but Kevin Martin does get to the line. He's just overrated, really because he's just a scorer. Isn't that the SG's main responsibility, anyway? If he were on a better team i don't think people would think so highly of him.
It was that game that made me realize he was bad for the Rockets franchise as a whole. I will never forgive him. DD
yeah I've liked the guy every year, but this year I started liking him a lot more. I kinda like the Nash comparison in that he can do a lot of things well. Nash could score a ton in his MVP years (and late in the Dallas years) when he wanted to or when the team needed it. The same way Roy can turn into a great playmaker/facilitator if that's what they need out of him.
He's on PTI right now saying he was afraid he was being too selfish last night and asked his teammates for their permission to keep shooting and lighting up the Suns. Needless to say, his teammates basically said, "Are you kidding me? YES!".
yeah watching PTI..ugh. The guy is very well-spoken, very humble, respectful. But still aggressive and competitive, still a leader. He says all the right things...really, ALL the right things. Except, they don't seem forced at all.. just him being himself. As much as I like Biggio, they don't seem canned/default like Biggio's responses often did. This is Roy being Roy.. and I like him a lot more after hearing the interview.. dammit
That's the guy in a nutshell! I love it. How many NBA star players-Lebron,Kobe, Dwade, Melo would stop and ask their teammates for permission to keep shooting?
