michael jordan scored in single digits once...........judging by that one game Chuck Hayes is more valuable than Michael Jordan.....I'm not saying he should be judged off one game, but judging by the one game I saw Michael Jordan played in I don't see why everybody wanted to be like mike.................

jeez get off my back...I'm not saying I'm judging him off of one game, but judging by his play in that one exhibition game that I saw him in, I'd say Michael Jordan was no better than let us say........................................................Eldridge Recausner........

Let me also add that this wasn't a typical Blazers game either. They were clearly wasted after the long road trip and ran out of gas in the 2nd half. Our D was good but it wasn't THAT good. Roy, Outlaw and James Jones didn't have any gas in the tank late in the game. IMO, the best thing about this contest (besides beating a team in front of us) was having Scola/Landry/AB finish the game with authority.

I would get flamed in the GARM for saying this.

The Blazers benefited from an easy schedule before this month, so I don't feel too sorry for them. This was a must win for us, and winning on their homecourt was huge ... so I'm happy.

    second that..

but from what I noticed, they weren't really lacking on the energy department (which is usually the symptom of fatigue from a long road trip), to the contrary, they out hustled us on several occasions in the first half (most notably: what seemed to me a bazillion offensive rebounds and steals the got from us).. but just like any young team with no veteran leadership would, they kinda faded and gave up after they got down by a small margin..

on a side note, the Outlaw guy is a beast, and the Aldridge guy has a bright future in this league..

Roy and Aldridge are the cornerstones of the Blazers. Supposedly Oden will become the 3rd major wheel next year. I'm skeptical.

Either Martell or Outlaw needs to further improve and become their standout SF. Outlaw has been incredibly clutch so far this season. He's had some outstanding 4th quarters where he carried the team, including a couple of game-winning shots. Webster is a couple of years younger and has been more erratic. Both guys have taken a step up this year. Even though Webster starts, Outlaw finishes games and is the better player at the moment. Webster can also play SG.

At PG, they have a much-hyped Spanish-league European player name Rudy Fernandez coming in next season. This guy is supposed to be good enough to possibly be their starting SG, which will move Roy over to full-time PG.

RocketsMac, this season the Blazers have been masters at overcoming adversity and last night isn't representative of how they usually finish games. Roy, Outlaw and James Jones usually step up to the plate. It could have been an off-game or maybe the Blazers will begin to fade from here on. We'll see. But when a team shoots 7/30 in the 2nd half of their 8th game in 13 days (the first 7 of which were on the road), you can bet fatigue has something to do with it.

There is no reason to feel sorry for them. The 82 game schedule is fair to everyone within the same conference.

You don't mean Rodriguez at PG, and Roy the full-time SG?

we couldn't have had him on our team. this is not a Rockets passed on this guy kind of deal.

Portland liked what we liked, and by virtue of having a higher pick, chose him. There was no chance for the Rockets to get him.

I'd agree with the Roy shouldn't be starting, and maybe shouldn't even make the all-star game comments.

Yes, he's putting up solid to great stats, though seemingly even more great because he's a second year player. Ok. He can be the MVP of the rookie-sophomore game. He still has a lot of work to do on his game.

BUT, he's is only a second year player, and will be a star in more than just your avid fans eyes pretty soon. He can get his own shot at will, it seems....and that shock is silky smooth.

Beating a dead horse, the way I understand it is that Minny at #6 picked Roy for us, assuming we'd take Foye for them at #8, then we'd swap players. Unfortunately for us, Portland caught wind of it, so they snatched Foye at #7, so Minny had to trade Roy to Portland to get the player McHale wanted, Foye.

So we might have been able to pull it off if we had maybe played our cards closer to the vest, and if Minny had not tipped their hand that they coveted Foye. Since everyone knew Minny wanted Foye, Portland knew something was fishy when Minny instead picked Roy. Portland sniffed it out perfectly like a drug sniffing dog.

Actually, Danny Aint outfoxed Danny Aint, and Rox lost out. How would it have affected the roster? Delete Battier. Delete Head. Add Roy. Add Stro.

BTW - the game's ugliness was a testament to some of the worst, if evenhanded, calling I can imagine. Equally rotten to all combatants. Ptui.

No I don't. Rodriguez has a good friend that plays in Spain named Rudy Fernandez. He's an athletic 6'6 jumping jack who I agree seems to have a lot of game for the NBA. The Blazers bought a draft pick from the Suns and selected him last summer. I think someone on the forum said that Morey wanted to select Fernandez instead of AB but the Blazers snagged him first.

I'm not going to get caught up in the hype of a European player I haven't seen much of, but supposedly he's the real deal and is pretty much a lock to crack their rotation next season, if not become a starter.

Perhaps one of the members that follows the Spanish league can comment. My understanding is Fernandez is tearing it up over there. The Spanish league is considered by some to be the 2nd best league in the world after the NBA.

Aside from adding Oden, shoring up the other guard position is the Blazers biggest need IMO. For my tastes, they get killed on the boards too often and they depend too much on Roy to create.

From this measure, I would say that David West is the best power forward in the league. Cuz he was unbelievable the ONE game I saw him play. And people are idiots for thinking Duncan, Dirk, and Brand are better than him...

Brandon Roy overhyped? Perhaps. If hype is a measure of a player I don't think ANY player besides select handful meets the hype given to them. Someone has get credit for the Blazers turnaround and naturally everyone would pick Roy as that player.

Brandon Roy only benefitting from star treatment? Doubting it. He gets 5 FT attempts a game, no where close to the top players. Kobe Bryant at #9 gets 8.4 a game. D. Wade 10 a game

Andre Iguodala better than Brandon Roy? I don't like throwing hype around and "winner" labels, cuz there are several hundred players in the league better than Robert Horry....But I'd think Roy would a better effect on a team than Iguodala.

On a HORRIBLE Sixers team as the only guy with star power, i'd think Iguodala's numbers would be better than they are if he was so good. Iguodala plays 40 minutes a game and turns the ball over quite a bit. Roy plays less minutes and gets the same numbers with less turnovers. I'd pay to see Iguodala play, but I'd pick Roy if I wanted to win.

You people that think Brandon Roy is overrated should have seen the end of the Hawks game tonight. He owned Joe Johnson late with clutch plays on both ends. What a player!
