I cannot think of another player I have seen grow and improve so much offensively over the course of 4-6 months. His offensive instincts are exceptional..... he isn't massively long or strong, but he has no problem playing through contact, he has really intuitive handles and he can really shoot. He would be locked in as the #2-3 pick in this draft if he didn't provide a gun to a murderer. It is going to be interesting to see what happens. I will admit I would really like to bookend Jabari Smith and Brandon Miller as my forwards. Basically Brandon Miller is what Tim Thomas and Michael Porter Jr. would have been if they hadn't been injured.
This usually doesn't end well. These situations dont I mean. I was actually pretty satisfied knowing he was there and we could run him at the 3 with Jabari and have an absolutely lethal system with shooters around Sengun if that was the case. I don't like his low release point though vs Jabari's and he's definitely smaller/stubbier. Jabari definitely looks 6-11 vs Brandon Miller's 6-9. But right now I think he should be avoided. This team is dysfunctional as it is and you are who you surround yourself with. I'm firmly in the Scoot/Wemby/Amen or bust camp. The last thing this team needs is *another* knucklehead and I would worry about Jabari and him getting into it.
Right. Not much there except being kicked off his high school team.... being kicked off his college team...... being kicked off an NBA team. There was the time he physically hit and drug a woman down the stairs at USC.... Then there was the time the CAVS sent him home for personal problems....... and then when he did return.......... Being forcefully removed by security from the Cavs arena after throwing food at a teammate, screaming and confronting the GM of the team and other coaches and players.... and claiming that he was a slave. Then there was the time he was involved in a severe car roll over and was found with a loaded and unregistered gun on him. Then there were all the allusions to suicide after he was released. Then there were all the day to day issues of Porter being nasty and physical in practice with other players, coaches and trainers. Then there was the time that he attacked a coach at halftime and left the game to not return. Then there was John Lucas having enough of it and blasting him to the media. Then there was the police report filed by two women claiming he attacked them.... including sucker punching one of them. Yup..... not much there for a 22 year old. Completely normal and acceptable DD..... you are absolutely right.
Not a shred of proof for most of that nonsense.....just a bunch of internet hearsay and conjecture. For instance in the alleged hitting a woman bit, Porter was NEVER charged, this was complete hearsay by the women, the police found no evidence of him being involved. As for the Cavs, HS and College stuff, he was under 19 - and has clearly matured...... The hypocrisy of being behind Miller and against KPJ.....not a shocker. By the way have any proof at all that Porter has been a distraction as a Rocket at practice, any....just one written column by a reporter or something? Anything? If that is true, we need a new coach ASAP, to give him tough love and find out if he can handle it, if not....sayanara....but I don't know if it is true.......I don't have any proof that it is or isn't..... DD
Was Harden being out at a Strip club all night before an afternoon game 6 against the Spurs professional? What about JR Smith when he killed someone? Or maybe Gerald Green when he got kicked off the team for gang behavior? I mean sometimes these kids change. DD
Huh? Internet hearsay? Really? You cannot be serious..... He "was 19 and clearly has matured"..... based on what exactly? Also, he wasn't under 19 when he was removed from security by the Cavs, he was 20 years ago........ and it was about a year ago that he went after his head coach and left the game at halftime. He needs "tough love"? I have a better idea, how about the Rockets release him and worry about being a professional basketball team that coaches and develops professionals that don't do things like LEAVE THE GAME AT HALFTIME after physically confronting his coach. As far as newspaper articles.... a lot of them are direct quotes from John Lucas, who was sick of the bullshit..... which is funny because a few weeks before the article came out I posted very similar things, and you called it bullshit. If you want to keep Porter, that is your right to have that opinion - but the idea that all of this stuff is in the distant past is just factually false.
I don't know you to be any insider, you might be, you might not be.....I honestly don't know......but I can't treat what you say as fact or evidence as it has no backup - it is hearsay until it is proven. KPJ getting mad at Lucas is nothing, ever see Tom Brady yelling at his coach? That **** happens in all sports...... John Lucas can be a pain in the ass, and he is no ****ing saint either, costing the Rockets a legit shot at a ring with his cocaine habit, but, he has turned his life around, why can't KPJ? He apologized and the team forgave him - and he was suspended for it, move on for crying out loud..... The incident with the woman was KPJ's sister, he was never charged.....because there was no evidence. The gun, and the roll over, yep, poor judgement but that is a traffic accident - we have all had those....we just didn't have a gun and btw it is not illegal to have a gun in this country......lots of rednecks are gonna be against your argument that it is a bad thing.....I mean I grew up in a town where we had guns hanging in the gun rack in the trucks we drove to high school. Now, if KPJ is yelling at staff - that is a problem and should be addressed, and there is a limit for me, if he is a real problem, but everything so far screams a young man who grew up without a father figure and needs one now. As for Miller - I just read that his friend asked him at 4am to bring him a loaded gun, and that Millers car blocked the girl in and the girl was murdered with that gun. Technically Miller didn't do anything wrong by the letter of the law, but having someone killed due to your actions at 4am in the morning - that is way worse than yelling at a coach. Hard pass for me on Miller. DD
Man, I was hoping the Rockets could pick Miller if they did not get the #1 pick but DAMN! This does not look right. Bama is wrong for this!
https://www.al.com/alabamabasketbal...-never-knew-illegal-activity-would-occur.html After Alabama star freshman basketball player Brandon Miller was revealed in court Tuesday to be at the scene of Jamea Harris’ murder in Tuscaloosa last month, Miller’s attorney released a statement Wednesday reiterating his client’s innocence. “Brandon never touched the gun, was not involved in its exchange to Mr. Davis in any way, and never knew that illegal activity involving the gun would occur,” Tuscaloosa attorney Jim Standridge wrote in a statement provided to Tuscaloosa Patch. Miller has not faced any charges as a result of his contact with Miles. When asked Tuesday by AL.com why Miller was not charged, Tuscaloosa chief deputy district attorney Paula Whitley said, “That’s not a question I can answer. There’s nothing we could charge him with,’’ according to the law. Legal experts told AL.com that prosecutors would need to prove intent in Miller transporting the firearm for an illegal purpose, and there is not evidence of that. Standridge’s statement said Miles asked Miller for a ride to the strip after Alabama’s Jan. 14 win over in LSU in Coleman Coliseum. Miles brought his “legal handgun” and left it in Miller’s vehicle, the statement said, and Miller “never saw the handgun or handled it.” The attorney said his understanding was Miles concealed his gun under clothing in the back of Miller’s car. Miller then went to a restaurant while Miles went to a nightclub, the statement said. That was also stated in court testimony Tuesday, which stated Miller dropped Miles off at Twelve25 Sports Bar but did not stay because the line was too long. Around midnight, Miles asked Miller for a ride to meet friends, Standridge’s statement said. While Miles was waiting for Miller, Miles and a companion of Harris “apparently exchanged words,” the attorney’s statement read. “Without Brandon knowing any of this context, and as Brandon was already on the way to pick up Mr. Miles, Mr. Miles texted Brandon and asked him to bring him his firearm,” the statement said. “Brandon subsequently arrived at the scene to pick up Mr. Miles.” The attorney stated that Miller “never got out of his vehicle or interacted with anyone in Ms. Harris’ party. He was never involved in a verbal altercation with [Harris’ boyfriend] Cedric Johnson or Mr. Davis.”
Well that sounds completely different - and if that is the truth than fine, if you like him take a shot. DD
It has nothing to do with me being an insider or not. I honestly do not care if you or others think I am or am not. This has to do with you burying your head in the sand. It isn't hearsay either - 90% of this is DOCUMENTED. There is a lengthy, documented track record..... this has very little if anything to do with what I have said. None of this makes sense DD. Lucas turned his life around and so can Porter? Sure, and I hope Porter does - but that takes a long time, and Lucas did not get better over night either, it took him YEARS. If years from now Porter wants to do something with the Rockets basketball related, SURE - go for it. That has ZERO to do with Porter right now and in the immediate future. You literally try to nitpick it all........ the facts are what they are..... and the man has always found trouble. As far as it being legal to have a gun - year if it is REGISTERED, which is wasn't.... it was loaded, on his body after he flipped his car in a single car accident. I have to come to the conclusion that anything this man does - you are okay with. As for Brandon Miller - I am not sure why you brought his name up. I have never said the Rockets should draft Brandon Miller. In fact, I have said he is likely going to fall some in the draft and that a team like the Rockets should stay away from Miller, because they already have knuckleheads like KPJ.
Tilman (who has been nothing but successful in running this franchise so far) already told us .... "pray for Victor"
DD is determined to hitch his wagon to a questionable horse - in this case, a talented player who happens to have a history of coaches willing to dump him.
